Pickpick

The world was united against the nightmare forces of the Kinslayer. Then the good guys won. So what now?

What happens to the alliances when the Dark Lord is no more? To the refugees of the lands he blighted? To his monsters, bred for war? Can they become something else? Can they be helpful? Loving? Can a hero find her purpose when there are no more battles left to fight?

This is a story of consequences. You should read it. You really should.

GrilledCheeseSamurai I know of the author but haven't t read anything by them yet. 5y
TobeyTheScavengerMonk @GrilledCheeseSamurai This is hands down one of the most fun and thoughtful fantasies I‘ve read in years and I want to share the love. Tchaikovsky is always great but this stands alone and is fantastic. 5y

xicanti Aw, damn; my library doesn‘t have it. I‘ll keep an eye out for it, though, and Tchaikovsky‘s Shadows of the Apt books are already on my library list. 5y
Squidapus @TobeyTheScavengerMonk oooooo consider it on his list of books to look out for! 5y
vivastory Thanks for the tag. Stacking & moving to the very top of my TBR! 5y
JazzFeathers It does sound awesome @TobeyTheScavengerMonk l've meant to read Tchaikovsky since he first published his Shadow of the Apt series. I should really find time for him. Is this another series, or a standalone? It kind of sound like it could be a standalone. 5y
chapter_fifty2017 I really liked this one too great characters 5y

Tobey, you‘re always going on and on about this author you love, Adrian Tchaikovsky, and how I should read his amazing stuff, but I‘m daunted by the size of his 10-book chunkster series Shadows of the Apt and I don‘t think I could handle that giant future spider sci-fi book you said was so good. What is another book by him that I should...

THIS! READ THIS BOOK! READ IT! THIS IS THE ONE OH MY GOSH OH MY GOSH!

Coherent review is forthcoming.

Here‘s the mission statement for the After the War series which will have different authors writing different volumes.

Examining the cultural, socioeconomic, and political implications of a fantasy world whose nations have defeated the Dark Lord together, so what now?

Are alliances still honored? How are are injured veterans cared for? Can now job-less orcs be rehabilitated and incorporated into polite society?

This is so my jam.

#Starting!

I was all excited about checking my 8th Adrian Tchaikovsky book off his bibliography and then I saw that he has 3 new books coming out this year.

Curse your prolific pen, Tchaikovsky!

Today‘s #bookmail deals with the complicated politics of a fantasy world that has finally defeated its evil overlord... so what comes next?

I think I‘ve decided that I want to read everything Adrian Tchaikovsky has written. 6 down and *checks notes* 19 to go! What?!?! He just published his first book a decade ago!

Curse your prolific pen, Tchaikovsky!

Dig that cover by the way. #CoverLove

Soubhiville Wow that is prolific! What‘s a first to start with for this author? 6y
TobeyTheScavengerMonk @Soubhiville Gotta go with his first book that kicks of the Shadows of the Apt books, an epic steam fantasy bugpunk series 6y
Soubhiville Thanks! I‘m stacking it! Maybe I‘ll have time to check out the used bookstore tomorrow... 😊 6y
JazzFeathers This author has been on my radar since first he started publishing, but still l haven't read anything from him. Will have to do something about it soon 😆 6y
