Some powerful stuff packed into some very short stories. Unusually, and somewhat disturbingly, Ellison's writing on race and prejudice in Southern USA gets more prescient as the years go by.

I always find historically based tales about race disturbing and I suppose they‘re meant too. It‘s hard to believe that in the grand scheme of things these beliefs were held by people not long ago. These short tales were upsetting and thought provoking, but very well written, with interesting narrative perspectives and very worth a read.
