Book #47 of the year: “Africa‘s Tarnished Name”, a collection of essays by Chinua Achebe.

A great read. Achebe‘s four essays address racism, colonization, the white washing of history, and the ongoing economic exploitation of Africa by Europe, the United States, and the USSR. I love his writing and honesty. Definitely worth finding a copy.

Some interesting pieces with enough potency to cause a reader to pause and take stock of their own pre and misconceptions about Africa.

One of the things I love about reading is learning and seeing things in different ways. I was aware of some of the issues written about in this little book but I took a lot from it, and I admire writers that are engaging and informative in a succinct but meaningful way. I need to read more Achebe.
