One Dark Secret. One act of revenge. When Emma Joseph met her husband David, he was a man shattered by grief. His first wife had been killed outright when her car veered off the road. Just as tragically, their six-year-old daughter mysteriously vanished from the scene of the accident. Now, six years later, Emma believes the painful years are behind them. She and David have built a new life together and have a beautiful baby son, Ollie. Then a stranger walks into their lives, and their world tilts on its axis. Emma's life no longer feels secure. Does she know what really happened all those years ago? And why does she feel so frightened for herself and for her baby? When a desperate Emma reaches out to her old friend DCI Tom Douglas for help, she puts all their lives in jeopardy. Before long, a web of deceit is revealed that shocks both Emma and Tom to the core. They say you should never trust a stranger. Maybe they're right.

A very different detective story about a young girl who returns having been abducted 6 years before and the subsequent abduction of her half-brother. Could she be involved? Very well written and plotted out. I am enjoying this series.

3rd book finished for #JubilantJuly

When you finish a book in two days it has to be a five star, and it was! First Rachel Abbott book for me and won‘t be the last. This was fast paced and kept me guessing right the way through, reminded me of a Harlan Coben book. Well through out, believable characters and a twisted plot, loved it.

tammysue Heard this is wonderful! 6y

Bit disappointed so far with my free credit pick. I thought it would be a crime story from the perspective of a family but it seems to be more of a police/detective narrative. Hopefully I'll enjoy it anyway, as it has good reviews on Audible.

I just wanted to share a picture of my favorite library! It's just as awesome on the inside, and there is a life size chessboard on the roof!

ChicaReads Where is that ? We have one here in Kansas just like that . 7y
booklvr39 It's in Kansas City, MO. I'm from St. Louis, so this is only about 3hrs from me. I love it! Sometimes when my husband does business in KC, I'll sit here all day 7y
jpmcwisemorgan I wonder if my family would mind if I went to visit them and went to the library instead... 7y
booklvr39 They have a little art gallery inside, there own coffee shop, I love it! They have a rare books room upstairs, they have a media room downstairs, they have tablets on the tables you can use 7y

A taut, brilliantly plotted psychological thriller - I read it in one sitting. The characters are all well developed and believable, there are plenty of twists and the tension mounts throughout
