Death in Dulwich | Alice Castle
Pickpick

I've had a sneak preview of this and can thoroughly recommend it to fans of cosy crime fiction. It's a modern Miss Marple-style whodunnit with a great cast of characters. Beth felt absolutely real and was very easy to sympathise with. It's the first in a series featuring different London settings so I'm really looking forward to the next case

AliceCastle Thank you so much, Katharine, so glad you enjoyed Death in Dulwich :) 6y

Apple Tree Yard: A Novel | Louise Doughty

Even though I was familiar with the plot from the tv series I found this an addictive read. The second person narrative was a bit hard to get used to at first but I thought the book was really well-written, especially the courtroom scenes and I will definitely look out for other books by this author.

I‘m a big fan of Maggie O‘Farrell so I was expecting to like this and wasn‘t disappointed. The writing style is elegant and poetic, the characters are brilliantly portrayed and I loved seeing how the two stories eventually came together

Yvonnel I recently read This Must Be the Place and LOVED it! What other books would you recommend by her? Thanks! 7y

I'm a huge fan of Patricia Highsmith so was expecting something good but I absolutely loved this chilling, complex portrayal of a disturbed and dangerous man. As with many of her stories the tension builds not so much over what he might do but whether he will get away with it.

A taut, brilliantly plotted psychological thriller - I read it in one sitting. The characters are all well developed and believable, there are plenty of twists and the tension mounts throughout

I'm always drawn to books set in Italy and I thoroughly enjoyed this one. It's more than a straightforward romance - there is a mystery surrounding the villa and the identity of the matchmaker. Beautiful descriptions

I loved the portrayal of friendship and rivalry with all ups and downs and the depiction of 20th century life in southern Italy in this coming of age story

I love psychological suspense so this was right up my street and I found it hard to put down. I wasn't completely sure about the second person narrative but the book's very well structured and the twists keep coming!
