Poetic narrative of a boy who survives a massacre. For the life of me, if people would just read, surely they could see why we need to treat refugees better. And because of my other #FoodandLit reads, I know that Americans were giving money to the army, not caring that villagers were being massacred, just because we were fighting communism. #Guatemala @Texreader @Catsandbooks

I started at work, continued while at the chiropractor, picked it up while dinner cooked, again after D was in bed and husband watched TV, finished while hair dried. If life didn't have to happen, I would have finished in one sitting! I truly cared about Carlos.

A beautiful and short book, written completely in poetry, Caminar tells the story of a young boy during Guatemala's civil war, and the havoc it wrecked on the lives of many. Beautiful middle grade novel that does a wonderful job of being haunting and factual without being overly graphic. Love
