Big Trouble in Little China Vol. 1
Big Trouble in Little China Vol. 1 | Eric Powell, John Carpenter
4 posts | 7 read
What’s to Love: Big Trouble in Little China is one of our favorite cult-classic films because it mashed together ’80s action and supernatural fantasy movies with ’70s kung-fu flicks. This is the first time any new Big Trouble stories have been officially told, and we have the film’s original director, John Carpenter, working with Eric Powell (The Goon) on the story, with Brian Churilla (Secret History of D.B. Cooper) on art. What It Is: Jack Burton, a macho, truck-driving adventurer, shook the pillars of Heaven when he defeated the evil sorcerer Lo Pan. He even helped his best friend Wang save his fiancée from the sorcerer’s clutches. Now Wang’s wedding has been invaded by evil forces with one thing on their minds—revenge against Jack Burton! Collects issues #1-4 of the critically acclaimed series USA Today calls one of "2014’s best of the best." "This love letter to the classic '80s movie will be sure to please fans both old and new." - Newsarama

Ok, I saw this at the library and had to get it. BTILC is one of my all time favorite movies. This starts off right at the end of the movie.

Pickpick

If you haven‘t seen the movie, I don‘t think this would be very enjoyable as it picks up right where the movie leaves off. I liked it but Jack began to wear a little thin for me by the end. I probably won‘t pick up the rest of the series unless I just run across them at the library. I would rather re-watch the movie again. #LetsGetGraphicWeeklongMarathon

MaleficentBookDragon Kurt Russell. Sigh. 6y
Reggie Omg, one time when I was so sick with a virus back in 2005 for a week..... I had bought this vhs tape for $3 and in that sick week I must have watched it no less than 30 times. I love this movie. There is a lot that happens in life that make me reference this movie which sounds absurd but that‘s just the magic of this incredible movie. Lol 6y
Bookzombie @Reggie LOL. I love this movie too. I may have to rewatch it again today even though I just rewatched it last week. 🙂 6y

"Everybody relax, I'm here." Classic Jack Burton! I was so excited when this came out and it did not disappoint! Takes place where the movie left off. Really funny! ?

Tjprender Great movie! 8y
BookCottageBlog I'm definitely going to check this out. I loved the movie. BTW, what did you think of Paper Girls? 8y
NuckinFutsNerd @BookCottageBlog I just read the tpb the other day and I liked it a lot. I really got sucked into the story, it wasn't at all what I was expecting, happily. It doesn't happen often but I really fell into that world and when I was done it was like "ooooh back to reality, bummer" lol. ? 8y
NuckinFutsNerd @Tjprender I loooove the movie! The comic is really on point too😀 8y
