This sounded like a great read as I love dark books, but the execution of this one is horrible. No sense of creeping menace just weirdness. I think the main problem was that I just didn‘t connect with the main character at all.

Overall, a rather soulless 1⭐️

Pickpick

I really liked this book. It was kooky and sci-fi and the settings of a 1950s asylum was great.

Fun fact: I love to knit bookmarks and I'm giving this one to a friend and I'm making myself another one, a parasol pattern that also looks like a seashell. Will probably use this for the library books I'm getting. Also: should I sell bookmarks on Etsy?

To-Read is now being built again after losing both my Goodreads list. So now I'm writing the list down on paper instead. Hopefully I don't lose that. Starting at the top and going down the list

Megabooks Oh dear! That‘s a time-consuming loss 6y
klbwriting @Megabooks pretty much the worst thing to ever happen to me bookwise 6y
Megabooks Good luck 🍀 getting it back together! 6y

Mehso-so

First of all, my next book must at no point be set in a mental hospital! I picked this up as a short read, completely forgetting the blurb and only thinking Lukavics writes #YA horror.

This story is compelling to read and absolutely creepy, but it‘s as much science fiction as horror and just didn‘t turn out to be what I had hoped for.

Also, mature YA with a couple sex scenes that will keep it off my middle school shelf.

#NetGalley

I've been anticipating this one for a long time because Amy is one of the best YA horror writers out there.

This book has so much potential ....
✔ Promising & intriguing plot
✔ Suspenseful writing
✔ Creepy and haunting

... but fell short in the end 😞
❌ Out of focus plot towards the end
❌ Rushed ending
❌ Confusing and incomplete ending

Rating: 2🌟

And I can't quite decide yet if I'd read another Lukavics' book. I do like her writing very much 😐

Daisey Just finished this and felt pretty much the same way about it. 6y
thereadingowlvina @Daisey It's frustrating isn't it? Have you read or planning to read other books by the Lukavics? I still want to try her other books though 🤔 6y
Daisey No, I have one and have been meaning to get to it but never have. It will go on my October TBR again this year. 6y
thereadingowlvina @Daisey This one sounds interesting. Maybe I'll give it a try too 😊 6y

The paragraph that nailed the coffin closed on this book for me. 🤦🏼‍♀️ I'm not the intended audience but that's my bad because I requested the ARC thinking it was a different book. Unless you're into risqué teen novels, this book probably isn't for you.
