Obsession in Death
Obsession in Death: In Death Series: | J. D. Robb
15 posts | 30 read | 6 to read
A crisp winter morning in New York. In a luxury apartment, the body of a woman lies stretched out on a huge bed. On the wall above, the killer has left a message in bold black ink: FOR LIEUTENANT EVE DALLAS, WITH GREAT ADMIRATION AND UNDERSTANDING. Eve Dallas is used to unwanted attention. Famous for her high-profile cases and her marriage to billionaire businessman Roarke, she has learned to deal with intense public scrutiny and media gossip. But now Eve has become the object of a singular and deadly obsession. She has an 'admirer', who just can't stop thinking about her. Who is convinced they have a special bond. Who is planning to kill for her - again and again... With time against her, Eve is forced to play a delicate - and dangerous - psychological dance. Because the killer is desperate for something Eve can never provide - approval. And once that becomes clear, Eve knows her own life will be at risk - along with those she cares about the most.

The best one in this series so far. A serial killer says he/she is doing it because they are Eve‘s only true friend and are doing it as a favor to her. In the process of solving this case, it forces Eve to look at the growth in her relationships with people.

Went for my first run in many months, then got my groceries for the rest of the week. I should be cleaning my apartment but I can afford a reading break. Right?

1. I think the longest is the In Death series by JD Robb. I believe I am currently caught up but she is still writing them!
2. I can't recall... I stopped reading the Twilight series years ago, maybe after book 2.
3. Try to pass most on as I don't have space.
4. No but wish I could find one that reads books I want/like to read.

robinb I‘m still keeping up with Robb as well....it‘s never ending! 6y
JoyBlue Re #4: Good luck with that. I've tried 4 groups, and haven't found one to stick with yet. (Longest was over a year, but....) 6y
tracey38 @robinb true! But they are still so good even going on this long! 6y

This was one of the best In Death books out there! The last part had me biting my nails and glued to my seat.
Who remembers the character Jaimie? I sincerely hope that we get to read more of him, perhaps if he joins the NYPSD or ends up working with Roarke.
Also, each time I read one of the In Deaths, I just want to go back and re-read the first few novels where it all started for Eve and Roarke. 😍
(Love that picture!)

Dragon Roarke is one of the best book-husbands 💙 7y
reading.in.brussels True, but I wouldn't dare fight Eve for him 😉 7y

Just finished watching the latest episode of Blindspot, and this thought occurred to me: imagine siccing Eve Dallas on that crazy-ass Shepherd - Shepherd would be taken down in no time!
How's that for collision between fiction worlds?

A little less of the witty banter than the book before it, but still a solid read. A killer is fixated on Eve Dallas, and the book builds up to a gripping final showdown. Another enjoyable mystery peopled by the characters we love.

tpixie Love Peabody et al. I'm listening to Apprentice in Death now- # 43. Keep reading!! 7y
ScientistSam @tpixie Me too! Love the scene in Obsession in Death with Bella and Mavis, and Peabody's pink magic coat:) 7y

This was such a fantastic addition to the series. This is one of the best and I loved seeing Eve's development lead to where she is now.
