This is probably a perfect book for manufacturers, companies that make widgets. For professionals like me, an attorney, or the CFO I am reading this with, it has some real pearls that make this short read worth it. But a lot of the advice, for example, standardizing processes to make widgets, doesn‘t apply much to what we do. I do buy into his eliminating tasks that waste time. I was disgruntled with his over-eagerness and repeating, “I‘m going ⬇️

Texreader off script!“ It bugged the heck out of me while listening and driving, until I figured out that he assumed people were reading along while listening and that they‘d be confused that he was referencing text not in the book. He also seems to treat lean like a religion. A bit off-putting at how he uses “lean” to put Splenda in his tea. 🤷 Because it‘s so short, though, I recommend it for the parts that may help improve productivity. 2w
GingerAntics He uses business practices to put Splenda in his tea? He‘s a little weird. 1w

My next audiobook, which I‘m buddy reading with a client‘s CFO, who I‘ve been directed to help her improve her working with her staff. Yes I‘m an employment lawyer and yes this is an odd tasking. Heck I hope it makes me a better manager of my team.

GingerAntics Well good luck in there. I can‘t wait to hear what you‘ve got to say about this one. 2w

#ReadAway2024

Finished on Tuesday, I had to sneak this one in for work as our President (& my boss) wants to introduce the book & concepts in our business review meeting next week & guess who gets to help him?!😬Luckily it‘s a fast read (about 3 neighbor island plane rides long for me) & has good ideas to simplify & optimize processes to eliminate waste & maximize value at work & even at home. It‘s a bit scattershot, but the ideas are solid.

Andrew65 Brilliant 👏👏👏 10mo
