Thanks so much for the generous package Jenni! All of these are on my TBR & I don't own any of them. If I'm not mistaken, all of these are #1001 except for the Blake Crouch. This really made my day!

Set on 1950s Bulgaria, it is a loving obituary for Georg Henig, told by the now grown Victor. When young, Victor's family lived in poverty. His father, a musician, commissioned a violin for his son from Georg, an elderly master craftsman. Victor befriends Georg and adopts him into the family.
A charming story, told through a child's eyes, with an elasticity of time and hint of magic and naivete that depicts unpleasant events without ugliness.
Only 120 pages long, but there is a whole lot packed in to this novel. The story is heartwarming and heartbreaking all at the same time, and the writing (translated from the Bulgarian) is beautiful and complex. I‘m not going to forget elderly, lonely Georg, his art, or his young friend Tsar Victor for a long time.
Another gem that I probably never would have found without my #1001books obsession.

Oh happy day! 😍
One of these was meant to arrive last Saturday, another this past Monday, but with the snow and subsequent delays we've had no mail for a week. Then, today, three books came tumbling in.💖 Now all is right with the world. (Although I do have a couple more books en route that need to arrive before the next blizzard hits. And I need to find a shop that still has bread, but hey: books!)
