Queen of Babble in the Big City
Queen of Babble in the Big City | Meg Cabot
4 posts | 18 read | 1 to read
Lizzie Nichols is back, pounding the New York City pavement and looking for a job, a place to live, and her proper place in the universe (not necessarily in that order). "Summer Fling" Luke's use of the "L" (Living Together) word has her happily abandoning plans to share a one-room walk-up with best friend Shari in exchange for cohabitation with the love of her life in his mom's ritzy Fifth Avenue pied--terre. Lizzie's landed a non-paying gig in her chosen fieldvintage wedding gown rehaband a paying one as a receptionist at Shari's boyfriend's father's posh law firm. So life is good . . . for the moment. But almost immediately her notoriously big mouth is getting her into trouble. At work she's becoming too chummy with society bride-to-be Jill Higgins, inflaming the ire of Jill's troublesome future mother-in-law. At home she's made the grievous error of bringing up the "M" (Marriage) word to commitment-shy Luke. Once again joblessness and homelessness are looming large for hapless blabbermouth Lizunless she can figure out some way to babble her way to a happily ever after.

Pickpick

This book is exactly what I expected, which isn't a bad thing. The main character is self absorbed and dramatic, but somehow it works out. I would have loved this in high school!

Mehso-so

Not too sure what to rate this book...I honestly don't like this series all that much, but it's because I can't STAND the main character. Which I guess means hella props to Meg for writing/developing a character that can be hated for so many reasons. Hence why I'm conflicted on rating. So I personally don't like it much, but it's not because it's poorly written. I just can't stand the MC.

Soooo. This little thing called "self control"? Yeah. I have none of it. Went to the library for THREE books and came home with NINETEEN. Whoops. I'll be posting detailed photos of this big ass haul throughout the day because there is too much to talk about to keep it to one post ?

Owlizabeth I came home last week with only 2 books (1 of which was a hold pickup, so it doesn't even really count) and I made my husband applaud me when I got home. #noshameinmylibrarygame 8y

JanuarieTimewalker13 Awesome!!! I'm not sure if top 2 are part of vampire academy, but I so desperately want to read that series!! Beautiful library haul!! Enjoy!! 8y
queerbookreader @JanuarieTimewalker13 They ARE part of that series! I read the first three back years ago and haven't ever really gotten around to finishing it, so I've been gathering up books when I've found them at thrift stores. It's an excellent series, I highly recommend ✨ 8y

JanuarieTimewalker13 Oh good!! Yes, there's a thrift store by me and I will be looking for VA books!! I LOVED Sookie Stackhouse until book 10. Book 9 was still candy, but book 10, meh... 8y
