Sing No Evil
Sing No Evil | JP Ahonen, KP Alare
4 posts | 6 read
Twenty-something guitarist Aksel stutters when he sings, and the latest reviews say he has the voice of a crow with throat plague. Thats not a compliment, even for the avant-garde music his band Perkeros plays. Aksel is having a hard time keeping the band together, stopping his girlfriend from kicking him out, and not getting eaten by his drummer (who happens to be a cranky brown bear). There are also the rival bands that Perkeros find themselves in battle with to save the city from supernatural forces set loose by ancient music. The key to it all could be in the music Aksel hears in his dreamsif it doesnt drive him mad first. With a visual soundtrack that blasts off the page, Sing No Evil is a wild ride through otherworldly dangers and the power of pure rocknroll.

Pickpick

I enjoyed this story a lot. It was weird that the plot shifted from drama to straight up horror. I did appreciate the focus on metal music. From this, I realized I don't mind problematic or unconventional main characters, doesn't mean I like them, but I get invested in the plot. Thank you Ryan for sharing this pick @LibrarianRyan

3 ⭐ . Most of the book is spent on Aksel coming to terms with not being the best lead singer for his band, and that the rock and roll lifestyle he so wants, is harder to attain while keeping your musical identity then he ever thought possible. This book spent way too much time exploring Axel and his goals for the band. It is quite drawn out and boring, even though the setting is anything but.

Twainy Funny. I have two of those. I love CH‘s writing ... just not Sookie!!! 😫 So I‘m hoping the western will be better! Couldn‘t resist Mage! Nice stack! 4y
LibrarianRyan @Twainy I couldn‘t get into Sookie, but I did like the show. This just sounded interesting so we shall see. 4y
Sweetkokoro I thought Mage Against the Machine was a novella lol. So I passed up buying but now I kind of regret it seeing how it is in fact not a novella haha. 4y
LibrarianRyan @Sweetkokoro biggest book in the box. 😁 4y

This was an ok read. It was well written and drawn. However the story was just not for me.
