“Next week I start fifth grade. since I've never been to a real school before, I am pretty much totally and completely petrified.“ I like this quote because it shows real emotion kids can relate to.

I would include this in my library for fourth grade and up. This is the age when cliques and bullying start to really arise, and I think this book can open a great discussion about how we should treat others, and how to make others feel accepted.
“Wonder“ by R.J. Palacio, 2012. Realistic Fiction book. This was a fantastic read. It follows a little boy named Auggie, who is starting fifth grade and school all together, because of a facial difference that involved medical complications. Something cool about this book is it switches points of view, it starts with Auggie, and goes to others. This is a great book that expands children's perspectives, and pushes them to be more accepting.
This realistic fiction book is a great pick for children! In the first chapter, we are introduced to the story of a boy who has a face deformity. It‘s is brought up in the first chapter, the plot of the book which is the child‘s parent‘s idea to send to school as he has been homeschooled his whole life. Throughout the book we get to see how his experience folds. This book can definitely teach children about kindness!
It took me 3 days to read this wonderful and touching book... Became one of my favourites.
I totally recommend it!!!
Jeder Mensch auf der Welt sollte zumindest ein Mal Standing Ovations bekommen, denn wir alle überwinden die Welt. -Auggie Pullman
I love this book okay? Loved it after the first two chapters. So excited to finish it but also sad because it's so good.
I think I might finish it today.
Hope you're having a wonderful day.
Let's celebrate everyday by staying positive and enjoying the present.
"When given the choice between being right and being kind, choose kind."
“We carry with us, as human beings, not just the capacity to be kind, but the very choice of kindness.”

What an amazing book! I never thought I would relate to a 10 year old boy so much. Wonder ( RF) by R.J Palacio takes you through the challenges of a little boy with a facial deformity named August Pullman. Everyone should share this book with their class. I would use literature circles for this book so the children can really discuss all of the aspects together and have healthy discussions.
This RF book by R.J, Palacio is about Augie Pullman transition into middle school. He was born with a craniofacial abnormality and his parents try to transfer him from home school to a private middle school. It follows him making friends, being bullied, and finding his way in middle school, being accepted for who he is. It won the Young Reader in 2015. #ucflae3414
Wonder is a realistic fiction book by R.J. Palacio that is all about acceptance and living your best life no matter what cards you were dealt at birth! This book should serve as an inspiration to all! The movie is great too.. This book would be good for a LC. #UCFLae3414F19
Wonder is an incredible RF written by RJ Palacio. It‘s about a fifth grade student named Auggie Pullman. He was born with a facial deformity that prevented him from making friends because people would judge him, make assumptions, and would effect the way he was treated. This book would fit perfectly for an IR. It discusses so much about bullying which is a big topic in schools now a days.
I really wish there was a rating higher than just “pick” because this is a book that everyone needs to read. August Pullman was born with facial deformities and never went to school because of frequent surgeries. Now he is starting fifth grade and as we all know, it‘s hard to be the new kid. This book would best be taught as an LC to be able to allow for deep conversation between the students. https://wonderthebook.com/for-teachers #ucflae3414f19

This is one of the most touching and eye opening books I have ever read. R.J. Palacio writes a fantastic RF novel about a boy named Auggie who grows up looking different, and just wants to be treating normally. I can not wait to see the motion picture made about this book. It is perfect for LC in the classroom. #ucflae3414f19
This RF book was fantastic and I believe every student should be introduced to this story in some way. Author Pullman was born with a facial deformity that has always affected his life and how others see and treat him. He was homeschooled until now, when he decides to begin the fifth grade at Beecher Prep. This book would be great for LC. #UCFLAE3414F19

Wonder by R.J. Palacio was written in 2012. This book is an emotional story that tells you the adventures of a boy who acts ordinary but looks different than everyone else. It shows the importance of family and friendship. It also talks about bullying and kids finding their identities. I really loved this book and everything it stands for. It was very touching and I could not put it down. It is defiantly for older kids but I highly recommend.

“Kinder than is necessary. Because it's not enough to be kind. One should be kinder than needed.“
I have heard so many great things about this book as well as the movie. I really want to read this book and watch the movie over Christmas break, it seems amazing. I feel like it has a lot of powerful messages in it as well.
Wonder by R. J. Palacio is a piece of contemporary realistic fiction. It was published in 2012. This story is about a boy who was born with a facial defect. Due to this he was not in a traditional school, but when it came time for fifth grade he went to school. All he wanted was to be treated like a normal person, but his classmates couldn't get past his looks. This book is good because bullying is so common, it would relatable for children.
I will definitely incorporate this into my classroom because not only does it discuss physical diversity (facial defect) but it also discusses the hardships of bullying, which students may encounter unfortunately at some point in their lives. I also would really enjoy this in my classroom because it discusses accepting individuals for who they are on the inside, and not the out.
Wonder was written by R.J. Palacio in 2012. This story is perfect contemporary fiction because it provides a story about a young boy who has a defect on his face and is bullied because of it. Although the story has an emotional aspect to it when it comes to the bullying situation, it also provides an amazing tale about great friendships who accept him for who he is.
This RF book written by R.J Palacio is a great book and truly eye opening. This book was written and then later turned into a major motion picture. I think this book would be great for an LC as it would be great for open discussion. #ucflae3414f19

Figured the #choosekind tip of the week was more than appropriate to share here.
If you do it, tag me so I can see a chain of book swaps begin!!
This is the lovely story of a young deformed boy who starts school for the first time. Its told over the course of a year from various points of view as August struggles trying to fit in and finally gaining acceptance. Its a beautiful book and I can't wait for my kids to be old enough to share this with.
Completed my challenge the other day when I finished Wonder! I expect to finish about a book a week until the end of the year.
This inspiring RF novel is about a little boy named Auggie who struggles going to school for the first time because he looks different from all of the other students. This book is perfect to use as a PR for 4th-6th grade students. Reading and talking about this book with a peer could help open each others eyes to ideas that the other student may not have though of and allow for multiple perspectives. #ucae3414f19
