A ragtag crew of humans and posthumans discover alien technology that could change the fate of humanity or awaken an ancient evil and destroy all life in the galaxy. The shady crew of the White Raven run freight and salvage at the fringes of our solar system. They discover the wreck of a centuries-old exploration vessel floating light years away from its intended destination and revive its sole occupant, who wakes with news of First Alien Contact. When the crew break it to her that humanity has alien allies already, she reveals that these are very different extra-terrestrials and the gifts they bestowed on her could kill all humanity, or take it out to the most distant stars. Mehso-so

It has an interesting premise but gets to corny for my taste.

You might not be able to tell from the cover, but this book is really fun. It's the first in a series and features really interesting world building and great characterization. And there is LGBTQIA2S+ rep across the spectrum.

I found out about it from Bookriot's SFF Yeah podcast, and now all I want to do is read the rest of the series (and play Fortnite lol).

Here are my books for the July-September prompts for #booked2018 ! They were all solid, but the tagged book was my favorite from this lot. @BarbaraTheBibliophage @4thhouseontheleft @Cinfhen

I know it's Spooky Season right now, but I just gotta talk about this super-fun sci-fi novel XD. Fast-paced and very action-driven, but the heart of it is a crew of misfits who are loveable on their own but even more loveable when they're together. Great for fans of Firefly and the new Star Trek movies :D.

athorne Okies. I need to know how you made this so I can snatch it from you! It looks very instagram friendly. 😹😻 7y
kammartinez @TheGhastlyGrimoire Canva + me being an idiot at it is what got me to this layout. I wanted to do something super fancy-schmancy, but settled on just a box divided in half with the top occupied by the title and the bottom filled with text. And yeah, I deliberately use this layout with Instagram in mind; translated super-well on my Insta feed XD. (edited) 7y

Thanks to @AngryRobot for the ARC :D.

Based on the blurb, this looks like a story about a crew who aren't quite Lawful but most likely Good, and mysterious doings and happenings involving aliens and super-old space ships that could either open the universe up, or end everything in it. Getting some really strong Mass Effect-but-not-quite vibes from this, so I'm totally onboard XD.
