A trainee jockey has been kicked to death by an aggressive stallion at the local stables. Deemed an accidental death, the case is closed. But when the jockey's brother returns from active service, he sparks an armed siege, demanding the investigation be re-opened and the truth uncovered. Still recovering from the physical and mental scars of his last case, Detective Inspector Nick Dixon is dragged deep into a murky world of betting scams and murder, where people will do anything to keep their secrets. Even if that means silencing a DI who keeps asking the wrong questions about the wrong dead jockey... Kickback is the third novel in the highly acclaimed DI Nick Dixon Crime Series.

Mehso-so

I didn‘t enjoy this one as much, I think it may be because the story was about horse racing and that really isn‘t something I‘m interested in. The main characters are all very enjoyable though.

Finished my 1st book for the #marchunshelfingreadathon. This one is quite short - 240 pages but all been read during the 1st day of the Readathon, helping by traffic issues on the commute (65 minutes) and extra driving for a hospital appointment 35 miles from work!
Really enjoying this series, third book on the bounce for me. Not physical book unshelving but Kindle unshelving - does that count?

Target update
240/2100 Pages
1/5 books finished

DieAReader Only the physical books count for an entry in the #MarchUnshelfing but it counts towards finishing you‘re TBR for the #Readathon. Am I correct @Clwojick that if we finish our TBR during the Readathon we get an entry (if they are digital books)? (edited) 4y
DieAReader Great job @Andrew65 you‘re off to a good start!! 4y
Andrew65 @SquidgetsRoom Thanks 👍 4y

GHABI4ROSES WOW, THAT was FAST💪🏾 4y
GHABI4ROSES Kindle IS reading, right? Not sure how the electric books work, very paper heavy book whore-der over here😬 4y
Andrew65 @GHABI4ROSES I hoard on both, about 800 books I need to read on my book shelves and hundreds on my Kindle, and a very large number on audible. 4y
Andrew65 @GHABI4ROSES It was a quick and easy read that a lot of travel aided me in reading it today, as well as reading till 1pm! 4y
GHABI4ROSES I never knew what Audible was until last week, Hahaah. STILL fast! 4y
Geenie 👍 😀 I am beginning shortly. 4y
Andrew65 @Yoshi-and-a-book Good luck! 👍😊 4y
Andrew65 @GHABI4ROSES It was a previous book site, now sadly no more, that introduced me to audiobooks and adds to my reading time when driving etc. 4y
Clwojick @Andrew65 Sorry for the late reply 🤍 Just coming off of overnights so I was sleeping the day away, lol. @SquidgetsRoom is correct, although I‘m thinking we may have to have an ebookathon since I have close to 1000 to read as well 😝🙈 4y
DieAReader I love the idea of an ebookathon @Clwojick 😉 Count me in whenever it‘s happening lol! 4y
Andrew65 @Clwojick I don‘t think I‘m far off having more ebooks than physical books. They take up such little space and keep downloading free or cheap books. 😂 🤷‍♂️ @SquidgetsRoom (edited) 4y
Clwojick It is an actual problem. I think I downloaded like TWO HUNDRED for the Winter Games. Guess how many I read? ONE! 🙈 4y
DieAReader It is definitely a major PROBLEM for me as well @Clwojick 🤦🏻‍♀️. Those around me often joke that I have too many books, but it‘s a good thing the don‘t see all the digital ones ‘cause they are way more numerous than my 600+ physical books @andrew65 🤣😬 4y
Andrew65 @SquidgetsRoom @Clwojick Looks like we are all suffering from downloadingitis! 🤦 😁😂 4y
Clwojick HAH! 😂😂😂😂😂 4y
DieAReader Its a Dailey issue lol! I get a BookBub daily & weekly deals email @Andrew65 😬😉📚 4y
Andrew65 @SquidgetsRoom Yes me too. 4y
GHABI4ROSES Me, THREE😂 4y

This is my stack for the #Readathon section (2nd - 8th March) for #Marchunshelving.

Setting myself an ambitious target of finishing 5 books during a working week and reading over 2000 pages. Already read one chapter of Eye of the Needle and about 78% through A Few of the Girls.

GHABI4ROSES Okay, now I am not as “nervous” about my goal! So glad you are playing with us‼️ (edited) 4y
Clwojick Woohoo! I love that you‘re always down to join in on a last minute Readathon 😉 4y
Andrew65 @Clwojick Always. 😂 4y

Andrew65 @GHABI4ROSES Good luck. 4y
GHABI4ROSES @ANDREW65 and @SquidgetsRoom are great sports‼️ 4y
Andrew65 @GHABI4ROSES We all need to be supporting each other, that is what makes Litsy such a great community. Only ever had positive messages from people on here and think been on here something like 3+ years. @SquidgetsRoom @Clwojick 4y
DieAReader Same here @Andrew65 I love that about Litsy! Here I am not subjected to odd looks when I hibernate with my books lol. My family & friends just don‘t understand me & my book need/love/obsession. Litsy is my book family! 📚💖😘 4y
Andrew65 @SquidgetsRoom Totally agree, here is home! 😍 4y
GHABI4ROSES YESSSS, I literally get chastised for labeling a perfect Friday night as a trio of me, my GrandDog, and a book (maybe add a fire/ LA/ rarely allowed). Like why actually JUDGE this? My parents and four kids DO appreciate it, though: no costly divorce or surprise pregnancy can emerge from THAT (I do not think, at least)🤪🚫🤰🏻🚫🤱🏻🚫🤪 SO GRATEFUL FOR YOU ALL🥰 4y
Andrew65 @GHABI4ROSES And what are other people doing that is better? In a pub or club where they can‘t hear each other speak, downing alcohol as if going out of fashion. Better! Really? (edited) 4y
GHABI4ROSES RIGHT⁉️ I have ALWAYS been an OBSESSIVE reader, but I actually felt GUILTY about it, which is absurd. It took me a having 4th kid, a 3rd divorce, 2 amazingly longsuffering parents, and 1 delicious GrandDog to finally DEFEND MY PASSIONS‼️ Grad school DEFINITELY did it, as well. My line of work is talk all day/ people all day. Girl gotta hide! 4y
Andrew65 @GHABI4ROSES I‘m a primary school principal (ages 3 - 11) so books escapism after a day where constantly talking to people and having to make countless decisions and someone always wanting a piece of you. Books give me downtime and calm too, and space to recharge my batteries ready for the next day. Plus I love stories, and especially thriller, mystery and Suspense Reading, interspersed by historical fiction and literacy fiction. (edited) 4y
GHABI4ROSES I was wondering what it is that you do... that is AWESOME, that education is your life‘s work. And that age is critical: Formative Years! 4y

Pickpick

An #kindleunlimited must read. Murder mystery in a rural county with lots of twists and turns. Not my usual cup of tea but will definitely be catching up on the Di Nick Dixon series created by Damien Boyd. This is book 3 and the first I‘ve read.

Andrew65 I keep meaning to try this author. 7y
