2 posts | 5 read
A creature whispers: If not for the cat, And the scarcity of cheese, I could be content. Who is this creature? What does it like to eat? Can you solve the riddle? Seventeen haiku composed by master poet Jack Prelutsky and illustrated by renowned artist Ted Rand ask you to think about seventeen favorite residents of the animal kingdom in a new way. On these glorious and colorful pages you will meet a mouse, a skunk, a beaver, a hummingbird, ants, bald eagles, jellyfish, and many others. Who is who? The answer is right in front of you. But how can you tell? Think and wonder and look and puzzle it out!

Max and I took turns reading Haiku from this picture book for the #readathon. Pictures and poems were great with a great variety of animals. The ant poem even got a chuckle from my 10-year old son.

If Not For The Cat by Jack Prelutsky is a great poetry RA that would be great for any classroom library. There are seventeen haikus in this picture book. The illustrations in this book are so amazing. I encourage you to read this book and look at the beautiful pictures in it. On these amazing and colorful pictures you will meet a mouse, a skunk, a beaver, a hummingbird, ants, bald eagles, jellyfish, and many other. This book inspires

Aimeejett students to think about animals in different ways. The UDL principle 1.1 offer ways of customizing the display of information could be met for this module. There are a lot of different ways the animals can be viewed so I think it‘s important for the students to be able to display the information in different ways. EL 1 teach questioning for clarification. I think it is very possible for students to get confused during this book, so it‘s important 7y
Aimeejett foe them to ask questions. This website http://writingfix.com/Picture_Book_Prompts/IfNotCat3.htm has more haiku riddles for students to practice. #ucflae3414f17 7y
