We should leave. We definitely should leave. But... chatty ghosts! The year is 1645, and Edinburgh is in the grip of the worst plague in its history. Nobody knows who will be the next to succumb nobody except the Night Doctor, a masked figure that stalks the streets, seeking out those who will not live to see another day. But death is not the end. The Doctor, Bill and Nardole discover that the living are being haunted by the recently departed by ghosts that do not know they are dead. And there are other creatures lurking in the shadows, slithering, creeping creatures filled with an insatiable hunger. The Doctor and his friends must face the terrifying secret of the Street of Sorrows that something which has lain dormant for two hundred million years is due to destroy the entire city... An original novel featuring the Twelfth Doctor, Bill and Nardole as played by Peter Capaldi, Pearl Mackie and Matt Lucas.

The combination of TARDIS team (Twelve, Nardole, and Bill) and setting (Edinburgh, 1645) made this a fun read. Perhaps not the best idea to read about plague during THIS pandemic, but it ended up being OK 😄

PickwickPlockPlock Plague aside, this sounds like fun! 4y
rabbitprincess @PickwickPlockPlock Oh yes, it was a great deal of fun 😊 4y

This book is honestly flawless! It felt like I was watching a Doctor Who episode as I was reading; the characters of 12, Bill and Nardole were written perfectly; and I love the additional characters too! This book actually got me right in the feels, and I‘m excited to read more Doctor Who books now! #DoctorWho #Whovian #booklover #book #bibliophile

I limited myself to two books at Blackwell's of Oxford. Very difficult, though. Would love a bookshop in my area that is that well stocked and organized.

Haha it looks like the Doctor is sonicking the guy on the Quick Curtain cover. "You make a better door than a window! Sit down!"

LeahBergen Ooo, I like the looks of that British Library Crime Classic. 👀 7y
rabbitprincess @LeahBergen I do enjoy a good theatre mystery! 7y

rwmg You ARE self-controlled. I go to Blackwells on my trip home each year and rarely come away with less than half a dozen books. 7y
batsy Yes, Quick Curtain sounds good! Everything in that Crime Classics series does 🤗 7y
rabbitprincess @rwmg I think if I hadn't bought 20 books in Hay and 3 in Cardiff, I might have bought a few more 😉 @batsy Yes and all of the books look gorgeous! 😊 7y
quietlycuriouskate Blackwells of Oxford! 😍 7y
rabbitprincess @River_Voice It's so good! We're going to have to come back on a future trip and make that our dedicated bookshop 😄 7y
quietlycuriouskate @rabbitprincess It was the only place in Oxford that I felt I belonged. 7y
rabbitprincess @River_Voice If only they had a flat for holiday rentals above the shop! You wouldn't need to leave, because there's a cafe as well! 😄 7y
