Tales of Two Americas: Stories of Inequality in a Divided Nation | 
so-soI was so ready for this anthology on poverty! It has incredible contributors and I typically love this kind of book. Despite that, and despite some of the pieces being terrific, this just never quite came together for me. I read about half, then it hibernated for a LONG time, and I was finally able to finish it on audio. Disappointing.
A chilly #litsywalkers session today, I forgot to wear my step counter🤦♀️ I started this new collection on audio, so far it's just alright.

I've been waiting to get my hands on this! Finally starting it this afternoon. The author list with essays in this collection is AMAZING: Rebecca Solnit, Roxane Gay, Edwidge Danticat, Eula Biss, Sandra Cisneros, Annie Dillard, and so many more. 🔥🔥🔥
pickLike any story collection, not every single story appealed to me, however, the overall story told by this collection was powerful. A reminder of privilege, who has it and how doesn't. A reminder of how close we all are to each other and to tipping off the edge if luck or timing doesn't work out. Overall, very moving.
This is such a great reflection on race, power, and white privilege from Kiese Laymon. Thought some Littens might enjoy it, especially after Charlottesville. It's in the tagged book about racial inequality edited by John Freeman, coming out next Tuesday, Sept 5.
