Ray and Joan
Ray and Joan: The Man Who Made the Mcdonald's Fortune and the Woman Who Gave It All Away | Lisa Napoli
In the 1950s, salesman Ray Kroc transformed a successful burger stand into McDonald's, the most popular fast food chain in history. At the same time he married Joan, who ended up giving his fortune away to controversial causes in which she believed. Ray and Joan is a story that forms a compelling portrait of the twentieth century: of big business, big love and big giving.

Ray and Joan Kroc made gazillions in fast food products and "multi-mixers". After Ray died in 1984, Joan spent the rest of her life giving away $, through her foundation as well as her personal funds. I would have really appreciated lots more photos.

#TBRtemptation post 3! The story of a Mad Man-era salesman who envisioned a successful burger franchise and his beautiful wife who risked it all to promote controversial causes. Their volatile relationship has been compared to Elizabeth Taylor's & Richard Burton's. Joan was a major force in the peace movement, and made landmark donations to such groups as the Salvation Army and NPR. #blameLitsy #blameMrBook 😎
