What I Like about Me!
What I Like about Me! | Allia Zobel Nolan
1 post | 2 read
This fun-loving book proves to kids that, in a world where fitting in is the norm, being different is what makes us special. The kids in What I Like About Me! are as different as night and day. And, guess what? They love it. Some adore the fact that their braces dazzle and gleam, others feel distinguished when they wear their glasses. Still others wouldn't trade their big feet for a lifetime of free video games. A mylar mirror embedded in the last page let kids take a look at themselves and decide what they like best about themselves.

#30DaysOfGratitude @jb72

This is actually a little hard for me because I'm definitely more about self criticism...
1. I am a good listener.
2. I am a master of profanity and hell yes I'm proud it 🤣
3. I feed lots of stray cats.

Today I am grateful for...
1. Cooler temps.
2. The pest control guy who removed a large wasp nest from my window.
3. Chocolate.

CBee Master of profanity 😂😂😂😂 @Sace 4y
Sace @CBee We all have our own gifts right? 😂 4y

CBee @Sace absolutely! I love it! I‘m a master of profanity in my head (can‘t curse in front of the kiddos 😂) 4y
jb72 Profanity is my super power! Siri has even gotten on board and stopped autocorrecting my various curse words. Thank you! 4y
Buechersuechtling @Sace 👋🏼 Nice to meet you onboard. And, I knew exactly what you mean by saying that today‘s prompt is hard for you because you‘re more into self-criticism. I join that club. I mean, isn‘t that terrible❓ People are always surprised when I thank for “little things”. I only try to make it better in my surroundings than what I experience my own in every day life . Especially at work people are quickly criticising but so slow at acknowledging. @jb72 4y
Sace @CBee We aren't supposed to use profanity in front of our kids? Ooops. I f*cked that up ?? Is it wrong that I cherish the memory of hearing my child curse for the first time? (5th grade, she dropped her book, lost her place and proclaimed "shit!") 4y
Sace @jb72 Yassss! Spell it out dammit! 4y
Sace @Buechersuechtling Thank you! It really is a constant struggle to not beat myself up and compare myself to others. 4y
CBee @Sace oh trust me, kiddo knows the words. He‘s heard them on TV 😂😂 ooooppppps 4y
Sace @CBee I belong to the "don't do as I say OR do" school of parenting. My daughter is amazing despite my crappy parenting. (Maybe my making her a bookworm was what saved her and erases some of my mistakes ?) 4y
CBee @Sace something tells me you did just fine 😁 4y
Sace @CBee she still speaks to me so at least there's that. 4y
CBee @Sace yes, that‘s a good sign 😂 4y
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick 👋Hello fellow master of profanity! 3y
Sace @Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick how the f*ck are you, friend? 🤣 3y
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick Just f*cking splendid! I think we've averted a bloody Civil War for another damn day, so there's that. You good or is life taking the piss out of ya? 3y
Sace @Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick I guess I'm damn fine since I'm retired and can keep my ass at home 3y
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick That's awesome! I'm back at work since things are opening more. Since I'm at a hotel, I've got my little office and the connected conference room to myself. I'm spoiled and can't complain too much. Plus, I'm hiding in the back corner to read a few pages since it's slow today. 3y
Sace @Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick I'm also spoiled and can't complain. Glad things are opening up more for folks. 3y
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick Rumor has it our Governor might restrict us again here in NJ next week. Ugh. If people would just act with common sense, we'd be fine. 3y
Sace @Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick ugh. I know! My husband works in a hospital and he is beyond frustrated. 3y
