After crash landing on a distant planet, Red finds herself in a strange paradise surrounded by a host of odd and intriguing aliens, including her small gray companion, Tawee, and the planets grumpy custodian, Goose. But even paradise has its problems. When survival gets a little tough, Goose and Red find themselves locked in the middle of the craziest election in the galaxy, competing for the acceptance of the castaways and determining who will lead them all. As this unlikely band of misfits comes together to create a new home for themselves, the enigmatic Uskog space pirates return, searching for a mysterious stolen treasure. Now Red and her fellow castaways must decide if their mismatched family is worth fighting for.

She finished the first book she brought for the vacation before we boarded the plane (!) and now she‘s well on her way to finishing the second. Does anyone else have a kid obsessed with graphic novels? I need recs! #thisishowwedothebeach

kspenmoll Cute & looks comfy!!! 6y
saresmoore I have two obsessed with graphic novels! I know for sure that @merelybookish will have great recs & I second her question. 6y
PutnamKatie @merelybookish @saresmoore ok! She has read: the Amulet series, all the Zita books, Red‘s Planet (and finishing up #2), Cici‘s Journal (her fav), Roller Girl, Real Friends, and the first Babysitter‘s Club. We just bought El Deafo and 5 Worlds. She likes adventure ones rather than babysitter club-type ones, but not too scary (she‘s 7 🙂). Any recs welcome!! 6y
saresmoore That‘s awesome! I was going to recommend 5 Worlds. My daughter (8) recommends Copper (same author as Amulet) and Phoebe & Her Unicorn. 6y
saresmoore The graphic novel version of A Wrinkle in Time is excellent, as well! 6y
PutnamKatie @merelybookish @saresmoore Great ones, adding them to the list! Thx! 6y
merelybookish I would second @saresmoore suggestions! My daughter likes anything by Raina Telgemeier. On the younger side, the Babymouse books, Tiny Titans, and Binky the Space Cat. Nimona and Lumberjanes when she got a bit older. Recently liked the new Anne of Green Gables g.n. My son loved the Bone series, Sardine the Space Pirate, and anything by Doug Tennapel. Good luck! ☺️ My daughter has just moved into manga, another new world to figure out. 6y
merelybookish Meanwhile by Jason Shiga and 6y
BillBlume Most anything by Ben Hatke is great. 6y
PutnamKatie Thanks all!! 6y
