White Hot Truth
White Hot Truth: Clarity for Keeping It Real on Your Spiritual Path from One Seeker to Another | Danielle Laporte
15 posts | 7 read | 1 reading | 7 to read
Has your self-help become self-criticism? A wise and often hilarious exploration of the conflicts between spiritual aspiration and the compulsion to improve, from Oprah Super Soul 100 member, Danielle LaPorte.Like a wise girlfriend you can totally relate to, Danielle cheerleads you to own your wisdom and self-worth by having a good laugh (and maybe a good cry) at the ways you've been trying to improve on your self-improvement. Rooted in compassion, feminism, and spiritual activism White Hot Truth is an intimate and (hilariously) relatable account of self-help tales gone wrong, and very right. If you love Brene Brown and Liz Gilbert's authenticity, and Marianne Williamson's strong spirit, you'll adore how Danielle lays bare "Boundaries for spiritual people"; the "Discipleshit" that happens when we give our power away; a "Soul-perspective" on suffering; "over tolerance" and "foolish compassion" in relationships, sneaky self-loathing; spiritual glamour. And in her poetic and brazen way, she brings it home with the hottest truth of all: You are your own guru.

#LetsGetNaked weekend ...

This one has more style and beauty than the previous elegance I‘ve posted. This book was so perfect it didn‘t even come with a dust jacket!

Wouldn‘t expect anything less from DLP!

You show me yours ... tag me and use the hashtag! I wanna see!

TheBookgeekFrau This one really is quite beautiful😍 6y

This will be my first book to finish in 2018! I can hardly wait! I have it in both hardback & audiobook. I love her voice. I‘m gonna listen to it at night as I unwind & then sleep on her words!

This one is actually a quote posted on LaPorte‘s web site, but I thought it was a good fit for today‘s #quotsynov17 prompt. Oh, the things we #tell ourselves - both helpful and not so much.

tournevis Except when your hell is chronic pain. It won't ever end. 6y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @tournevis Oh my friend, I am so sorry you‘re living with chronic pain. I have had quite a lot of pain in my life also, so I do know how are it is. 😍💕 6y
kspenmoll @tournevis so so sorry. Wishing you find some eventual healing- what strength it takes to live with pain- I have had years of struggle post accident but I am lucky; no where near what I lived through the first 10 years. Please know so many care. Sending you ❤️ 6y

Pickpick

I've read all of Danielle LaPorte's books and have always found them helpful, but I can get tired of her tone. I loved this one. White Hot Truth looks at different forms of spirituality -- Catholicism, Buddhism, new age practices, to name a few. She offers up her experiences and things to think about you discern your own path.
