I flipped through the "Making It" section of the tagged book, looking for inspiration for #MyShot when I stumbled upon the side bar about Balzac. I quickly recalled his coffee addiction, he was definitely not throwing away his (espresso) shot! The Giamatti New Yorker skit is hilarious & definitely worth watching if you have Prime.

Cult fiction & classic novels are often seen as opposites, but I believe they have quite a bit in common. In the introduction to Cult Fiction, the editor writes "The term cult fiction implies lengthy and irrational devotion" & further, "The quality of the writing is often beside the point." One could easily make the case that while every classic is also a cult favorite, not every cult is a classic. Of course a canon?

vivastory Is also problematic & fluid. A book like Octavia Butler's "Kindred" would have been considered a cult book until recently when it started receiving its proper appreciation as a modern classic. 7y
