A teenage boy born in space makes his first trip to Earth in this engrossing sci-fi adventure for fans of The Martian from award-winning author Nick Lake. He's going to a place he's never been before: home. Moon 2 is a space station that orbits approximately 250 miles above Earth. It travels 17,500 miles an hour, making one full orbit every ninety minutes. It's also the only home that fifteen-year-old Leo and two other teens have ever known. Born and raised on Moon 2, Leo and the twins, Orion and Libra, are finally old enough and strong enough to endure the dangerous trip to Earth. They've been "parented" by teams of astronauts since birth and have run countless drills to ready themselves for every conceivable difficulty they might face on the flight. But has anything really prepared them for life on terra firma? Because while the planet may be home to billions of people, living there is more treacherous than Leo and his friends could ever have imagined, and their very survival will mean defying impossible odds.

Took me a couple of chapters to get use to the writing style (especially being a non native english speaker), but it's kinda impressive how your brain can adapt to anything: I quickly overcame it and was able to fully enjoy the story.
The story is awesome, full of space facts while still being a pure Sci-fi story - the space nerd that I am was in book heaven and I finished it in a day!

Time to change up genres. My last two reads were realistic fiction, now I‘m onto sci-fi.

This was an excellent YA novel featuring lots of interesting detail about space technology but also a heartwarming look at family relationships.

It was a nice coincidence that I finished it on the day of the Falcon Heavy launch. It made be appreciate this astounding and inspiring feat of engineering even more!

Nick Lake‘s YA SF novel is like GRAVITY meets AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH as the story basically hinges on Leo‘s experiences in having to adjust both to gravity and to life with his mother and grandfather for the first time but while the science research is great, the use of a text speak-style narration will alienate some while I felt that some of the plot was a little underdeveloped so while it‘s an interesting read, I don‘t think it‘s a classic.

#TBRtemptation post 3! This YA sci fi was released in October. 15-year-old Leo, and twins Orion & Libra, were born in space aboard Moon 2, which orbits Earth. After heavy training from their astronaut community, they're making the journey to Earth. But life on the planet will put their survival up against near-impossible odds. #blameLitsy #blameMrBook 😎

Nothing better than unsolicited review copies in the mail. I didn‘t even know there was a new Nick Lake novel, and then there it is. Free book! Glorious Friday indeed.
