Eeee, so cute! But was intended as a Christmas gift for a six-year-old girl and it's more picture-booky than I had expected. Hm. She might need a second book in a higher reading level.
Lindy School Library Journal rates this for K to Grade 2, and Kirkus says Ages 3-8. I know a lot of adults who enjoy it too. I understand what you mean about this being too much of a picture book, because it‘s about optics. Even 7-year-olds feel like they are too old to enjoy a picture book. It‘s a shame. 5y
esurient @Lindy Yes, I had purchased based on similar ratings. Oh well -- no harm if she doesn't like it; it will be lost amid the grand gift swarm and, in, cough, 'worst case' scenario, donated to her local library. 5y
Lindy @esurient Fingers crossed that she will adore this. It‘s such a great book. If you are there when she opens it, ask her to share it with any other adults present. The enjoyment adults get from it may increase her appreciation. 5y
