An enthralling narrative that shows us behind the morgue doors to tell his life story (DiMaio) through the cases that have made him famous (exhumation of assassin Lee Harvey Oswald, VanGoh suicide - his analysis on it, and others interesting ones). If you love criminal thrillers like I do, you'll love this book.

I skimmed this when it turned into more of a memoir than accounting of morgue procedures. Some interesting bits are included but not nearly enough to keep its position on my list.

Mehso-so

I didn't really appreciate some of the value judgements projected onto defenders of Trayvon Martin, which weren't very flattering. I find this ironic because Di Maio talks about always wishing to remain objective. Otherwise, a fascinating look into the determination of many notable forensic cases.

Starting this next; probably this week. Looking forward to it a lot! I tend to like somewhat morbid books a lot. :P

The author felt rather pretentious at times, but the book was a fascinating, quick read. Loved it. Stay away if detailed descriptions of death and bodies makes you uncomfortable.

Such an interesting read. Vincent DiMaio is a world renowned forensic pathologist who has had a hand in many famous and well known autopsies, including Lee Harvey Oswald (exhumation), Lana Clarkson (Phil Spektor), and Chelsea McClellan (victim of serial killer Genene Jones). This book had my undivided attention. I only wish it had been double the length. (Photo is inside Lee Harvey Oswald's original casket after his exhumation).

Soubhiville Sounds cool and creepy. 8y

Reviewsbylola It really is. I raced through it in two days and it typically takes me much longer to read ebooks because I usually prefer physical books. @LeahBergen 8y

This is by far THE best book on forensic pathology I've ever read. It's factual without being dry. Witty without being glib. It just rocks. If the author speaks the way he writes, he is probably one very interesting person to listen to. What an impressive career! I can't recommend this book enough.

I must not be the only one who enjoys reading about death and dying.
