Green Witch | Alice Hoffman

From bestselling author Alice Hoffman, a resonant tale of overcoming grief and tragedy, as only she could tell it. In this powerful, lovely sequel to GREEN ANGEL, Green must learn the stories of a number of "witches" and free her true soul mate from a prison as she grapples with life, love, and loss in a post-disaster world.

In this follow up to Green Angel, Green (called this bc of her ability to make things grow) is now 17 yo. She still grieves her family's and town's decimation by a group known as the Horde, who despise modern invention, the future, and any type of growth. With whom will she align to prevent further chaos....

This book was beautiful. If Green Angel was about grief, then Green Witch was about learning to live again. Alice Hoffman really is a genius and I know these books will stay with me a long time.

angieinwonderland Green Angel was a beautiful rendering of a grief story. 12mo
booksandsympathy @angieinwonderland I still think about these books. I've lost both of my parents since I read them and I want to buy them and re-read them. They were so impactful and I don't understand why more people don't read them. 12mo
angieinwonderland Alice Hoffman is a genius for capturing the exact words to explain complex feelings. I'm sorry for your loss. I lost my mom, and this will be the 2nd mother's day without her. I wish I would have known about these books sooner. 12mo

"She takes a fishhook from her pocket. It‘s small. It looks light, but when she places it in my hand, it is surprisingly heavy. 'This is how much love weighs', she tells me. 'Nothing if you don‘t take it when it‘s offered. Everything if you accept what‘s given to you.'"

"I said I had nothing and that people with nothing are unable to dream. But I was wrong. Dreams are like air. They never leave you. It takes less than nothing to begin. Start with a pile of rocks. Moonstones, night stones, stones the color of snow. Start with heartache, thorns, vines. Let there be mud on your clothes, nails in your boots, ink on your skin, pain deep inside you. Let it grow and don‘t be afraid."

A beautiful sequel that follows teenage survivor Green as she seeks her heart's desire & helps others seek theirs in this #postapocalyptic #fairytale. I absolutely loved this book & will be buying copies of both books for my library ASAP. I can't wait to read these books again. • #greenheart

The frightened walk away when love is difficult. I know that now. You have to be willing to give everything away. You have to be willing to end up with nothing.

Only then will your heart be whole.

The world has changed, so it only makes sense that people have changed as well.

If that's not the best I've ever heard it put in a #postapocalyptic novel..... 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Sequel to Green Angel.

Green still struggles with the loss of all she loved, but discovers that she can make things grow. She also listens to others share their losses and tells their stories.

When she sets out to collect the stories of women who have been branded witches, she might be on the path to her own greatest desire, but only if she's brace enough.

A beautiful exploration about the ways love can blossom, even from scorched earth.
