Clementine is having not so good of a week. On Monday she''s sent to the principal''s office for cutting off Margaret''s hair. Tuesday, Margaret''s mother is mad at her. Wednesday, she''s sent to the principal...again. Thursday, Margaret stops speaking to her. Friday starts with yucky eggs and gets worse. And by Saturday, even her mother is mad at her. Okay, fine. Clementine is having a DISASTROUS week.

I worked hard to have allergy/food sensitive items for Halloween this year. These turned out so much cuter than I had imagined! I also had erasers and stickers and tattoos and spider rings.

Pickpick

Clementine by Sara Pennypacker, illustrated by Marla Frazee, is a RF novel that follows a quirky girl who always seems to be getting into trouble, even though she isn‘t trying. She‘s a humorous girl, with a kind heart, who always seems to have an idea in her head, ideas that don‘t always seem to go as planned. The Boston Globe Horn Book Honor winner makes a great book for IR or LC as students genuinely connect with Clementine.

AshleyAA The provided teacher‘s guide shows a variety of way to incorporate clementine into your classroom. This can help meet UDL principles 3.2 and 7.1 which relate to highlighting patterns, big ideas, and relationships and optimizing individual choice and autonomy. It also meets EL 38 that relates to assigning short readings for homework. 6y
DrSpalding Students enjoy Pennypacker's work. EL 38 is just right. Did you say realistic fiction? Yes, you did. Correct! (edited) 6y

For today's #monstermadness2017 #casper prompt I give you Clementine. She's not a ghost, but very precocious. She makes friends with everyone (except her brother who she calls by various veggie names). When ever she gets in trouble it's normally because she was trying to help someone else. Easier to read than Romana Without all the backtalk and sass of Junie B. Wonderful funny series for your early chapter reader.

Cigars, yes; husband, no. (Note: I do not endorse smoking cigars.)
