Faggots | Larry Kramer
2 posts | 4 read | 3 to read
Larry Kramer's Faggots has been in print since its original publication in 1978 and has become one of the best-selling novels about gay life ever written. The book is a fierce satire of the gay ghetto and a touching story of one man's desperate search for love there, and reading it today is a fascinating look at how much, and how little, has changed.

Mehso-so

At times its a great commentary on a then still new push for acceptance of gay people, and some of the risks that movement faces. But it mostly relies on its shock factor- both the title and ita various sex scenes- to entertain you. The cast is largely unlikable, with most being oblivious narcissists. It needed heft to its plot, as well as more fleshed out people. But when it does stick the landing, its a great read.
