Papers and Journals
Papers and Journals | Soren Kierkegaard
4 posts | 1 to read
One of the greatest thinkers of the nineteenth century, Sren Kierkegaard (1814-55) often expressed himself through pseudonyms and disguises. Taken from his personal writings, these private reflections reveal the development of his own thought and personality, from his time as a young student to the deep later internal conflict that formed the basis for his masterpiece of duality Either/Or and beyond. Expressing his beliefs with a freedom not seen in works he published during his lifetime, Kierkegaard here rejects for the first time his father's conventional Christianity and forges the revolutionary idea of the 'leap of faith' required for true religious belief. A combination of theoretical argument, vivid natural description and sharply honed wit, the Papers and Journals reveal to the full the passionate integrity of his lifelong efforts 'to find a truth which is truth for me'.

#PoetryMatters Day 1: #Torment - not exactly a poem but alludes to poets, so tangentially related. 🤣😅😂

I don't keep track of my reading in notebooks very often (except to mark my progress on #botmchallenge !) but when I do I use these Mon Carnet de Poche journals- they're almost too beautiful to write in!

I'm horrible at journaling, except when I travel. I was using goodreads to keep an account of my reading; however, those of you have been following for a while might remember when they 'accidentally' deleted the wrong account. I'm still a little bitter about that.

Anyway, with great encouragement from fellow Littens, I went out and got a proper journal to use for my book stuff. We'll see how that goes.

PurpleyPumpkin Goodreads "accidentally" deleted your account?!? OMG that's scary. ? I now completely rely on GR to track my reading, especially my reviews. I used to journal, but became lazy about it since I also posted my reviews on GR. Sounds like I should start journaling again. 7y
drokka @PurpleyPumpkin I had two accounts, and deleted one myself but for some reason started getting emails from goodreads on it. So, I emailed them requesting to cancel that account fully, but instead of looking for the account with tat email, they cancelled the account that used the same email I made the request with. As much as I'm angry with them about it, I don't think they randomly cancel accounts (at least I hope not), unless you break T&Cs. 7y
PurpleyPumpkin Good to know, but still, wow. I really should start journaling again, even if it's only a backup. 7y

People understand me so poorly that they don't even understand my complaint about them not understanding me.
