My name is Rachel. I'm straight ... I think. I also have a mountain of student loans and a smart mouth. I wasn't serious when I told Pari Sadashiv I'd marry her. It was only party banter! Except Pari needs a green card, and she's willing to give me a breather from drowning in debt. My off-the-cuff idea might not be so terrible. We get along as friends. She's really romantically cautious, which I find heartbreaking. She deserves someone to laugh with. She's kind. And calm. And gorgeous. A couple of years with her actually sounds pretty good. If some of Pari's kindness and calm rubs off on me, that'd be a bonus, because I'm a mess-anorexia is not a pretty word-and my little ways of keeping control of myself, of the world, aren't working anymore. And if I slip up, Pari will see my cracks. Then I'll crack. Which means I gotta get out, quick, before I fall in love with my wife. "

I know I watched all 3 episodes of The Circle season 2 opening together, so they're hard to pick apart in my mind. I remember enjoying them a lot! It was a very weird surprise to see Frank Langella. Also, Winn is one of my favorite villians in Trek, so anytime she flexes those muscles I am interested.
Tagged book is from problematic publisher Riptide. It's a fake marriage sapphic romance, so not that close to military coups.

Megabooks I love Winn, too! 5y

RITA nominated F/F marriage of convenience. This had potential. I wanted to like it but I just didn‘t it. Everything about it was underdeveloped. The formation of the romantic relationship was weak & not believable while Rachel‘s issues with anorexia & her mother‘s emotional distance seemed like fodder for the story without a real connection to it. Just MEH. #romantsy

Pickpick

I was initially skeptical of this because it sounded like GFY (offensive), but it isn't for reasons I don't want to spoil. Rachel is kind of a mess with a ton of student loans when she agrees to green card marry friend Pari. Pari is elegant, beautiful, and successful. Opposites attract, but the beauty of this lays in Brown's handling of a serious issue using a borderline unreliable narrator. #romance #queer #romantsy

Lunch and a book I don't want to end. No wonder it's nominated for a RITA (the book, not lunch). #readathon #romance #queer #romantsy

EloisaJames I've never read a lesbian romance. First one, coming up! 7y
