De: Tales - Stories from Urban Brazil
De: Tales - Stories from Urban Brazil | Gabriel Ba
6 posts | 3 read | 1 to read
From the company that introduced American audiences to Brazilian twins Fbio Moon and Gabriel B (Daytripper, Pixu) comes De:Tales, a collection of the twins' breakthrough short stories! After three Eisner Awards and a series of acclaimed projects with writers Joss Whedon (Sugarshock), Gerard Way (The Umbrella Academy), Mike Mignola (B.P.R.D.: 1947), and Matt Fraction (Casanova), Moon and B are now among the hottest artists in comics. De:Tales is the duo's most personal work to date, presenting their work separately, together, and in tandemas the twins trade off on the roles of writing and illustrating, share those roles, or fly solo. Brimming with all the details of human life, their charming tales move from the urban reality of their home in So Paulo to the magical realism of their Latin American background. Featuring a brand new cover, Moon and B's seminal and soughtafter work is finally back in this handsome hardcover packaging, proving once again that they are a talented pair to watch out for. * Named by Booklist as one of the 10 best Graphic Novels of the year, Foreword Magazine gave it a silver medal on the Graphic Novel category of their "Book of the Year" award, and it was nominated for an Eisner Award.

#Aprella Day 1: #FirstTime in Brazil and my hosts spoiled me like crazy. This is all part of a single meal after I delivered my keynote quite successfully. And now, Singapore teacher educators are coming to Brazil to train teachers. The MOU with our institution has just been signed last week. This meal is totally worth it.

Cinfhen Looks scrumptious 😋 6y

#RiotGrams Day 10: This is a #latergram from my business class trip from Singapore to Brazil for two keynote speeches (Sao Paolo and Santa Catarina). Naturally, Fabio Moon and Gabriel Ba were with me. I thought this was perfect for today‘s #BookAndABeverage prompt.

I am unaccustomed to this level of indulgence - executive lounge even has a shower room (which I took full advantage of) and Bulgari-branded toiletries. An eight-hour layover is so not bad with this level of pampering (don‘t even get me started on the buffet which I hardly touched because I couldn‘t eat one bite more). Plus this area right here makes for a great reading nook complete with blanket, socks, and eyeshades. :)

Texreader Amazing. I could do that as well given the opportunity! 7y

I suppose the book provides a clue where I am headed. The seven hours + 8 hour layover + 16 hour flight should be more than worth it, especially since my hosts provided business class tickets. Whee.

Cinfhen Sweet!!! Safe travels ✈️ 7y

#UncannyOctober Day 1: I have been invited to deliver a keynote at an educational conference in Brazil in a few weeks time, so first thing I did was purchase books by Brazilian authors making these my #OctoberMostAnticipated - any more recommendations of great novels from Brazil?
