Until today I finished every Fitzek.
Not all of his endings convinced me but I was hooked by all of the pots to follow the whole way through.

Well, not this time. After ~20 % I felt the story was to head from one dead body to another. That bored me and there didn‘t seem to be bread crumbs for the real denouement.

The reincarnation setting was promising and in my early 20ies I would have loved it. But nowadays it doesn‘t carry a plot.

“In the mornings, it now took him almost an hour to scrub the tiredness from his face, and when he left the bathroom he felt more and more like a living sham; a polished-up piece of designer furniture whose hidden quirks only became visible when placed in the unsparing overhead light of the living room at home.” (p. 11)

Can you imagine, a Fitzek I haven‘t read yet.

Actually, I wanted to read something slim because I yesterday ordered a new book. (I am completely innocent of that, the book jumped into my shopping cart while I was looking for completely different things. 😇)

but since my stack of unread books didn‘t offer tiny volumes, I decided to take a book that‘s “half tiny” and simultaneously close an education gap.

Let‘s see if / how I like it.

Enjoying what seems like a lovely Spring day in the middle of Autumn... These daffodils smell divine! I'm also flying through The Child and will most likely finish it before the end of this afternoon. 📖

#fiveonmytbr I've decided to put together a little physical TBR with five titles I'm hoping to get to soon... The Child by Sebastian Fitzek is up first, but I'm also looking forward to the other four on the list. I have especially high hopes for The Alienist as I loved the Netflix series!

I actually enjoyed this episode of TNG, although many consider it a bad one. Marina Sirtis gave a wonderful, heartfelt performance, and I've always thought she was an underappreciated part of the show

Defence lawyer, Robert Stern, is understandably skeptical when a 10-year-old boy confesses he was a serial killer in a former life.

The initial synopsis looked intriguing but the story line soon veers off into a network of child abduction & paedophiles.

Carina, the token female, was basically there for the MC to kissy face with & it was very contrived. The twist at the end came too late to save it. 2⭐️

The audio version of this one is actually a full-cast dramatization which adds to the tension and overall eeriness of this mystery that opens with a ten year old leading the way to a corpse that has been hidden away for 15 years... it‘s a quick listen, with some genuine surprises to the plot! Better for #AudioColoring than #AudioDriving because headphones better regulate the volume of the special effects and dialogue!
