The Twelve | Justin Cronin
Pickpick

Intense! Emotional! Exceptionally readable! Cronin's viral vampire saga continues the brutal story of The Passage, and it is full of enjoyable characters and plot twists and payoffs. But it is a taxing read. I need a break before The City of Mirrors.

MrBook Great review! Looking forward to tackling this one soon. 8y

This book is killing me! It's so engrossing, so seductive. You keep reading, even though you know more tragedy awaits.

MrBook My cat watches me from across the room also, lol. 8y

Changing Places | David Lodge

Put this on the Comfort Reads shelf. Lodge has a light satirical voice and it was fun to watch an American in England and a Brit in America experience each other's 1960s academic culture.

The Incal #1 : The Black Incal | Alexandro Jodorowsky, Moebius
Mehso-so

Wonderful art from Moebius, and Jodorowsky's techno-dystopian world is fun, but in the end it lacked substance.

I was so happy to get a new issue of this intriguing series about paper delivery girls from the 1980s who get caught up in some sort of inter-dimensional mischief. Cliff Chiang's art with Matt Wilson's colors is wonderful.

A satisfying conclusion to an epic trilogy. This was a hard-boiled fantasy where heroes don't fit the standard molds. They are irreverent, imperfect, lustful—in a word, human. Morgan created a fascinating blend of science and magic that is a lot fun to unravel.

SiriGuruDevSingh I LOVE how this series ended! I kept imagining what Archeth did when she returned... I love how the story gave you more to think about. So good! 8y
tom.litchford Yeah, Morgan manages to end it while allowing the story to continue on in the reader's head. 8y

Wonderful and captivating memoir of life on an organic farm. Seductive, even. You can feel the earth in your hands, see the land, and taste the produce it yields. And you care about Kristin and Mark as their life story unfurls. It also has one of the best wedding stories I've read a long time.

Not my absolute favorite Hellblazer story, but it's nice to hear his voice, and Sean Murphy's art is always a pleasure. Pick this up if you've been missing Constantine since his Vertigo series ended.

Reading this memoir about small, local, organic farming in the spring is making me anxious for the CSA season to get started!

I struggled with this latest book by my favorite author. The subject matter is Auchwitz, and the constant horror of the setting, the banal brutality, weighed the story down for me.

A completely delightful tale of a boy who encounters a hidden world in the English countryside. Gaiman's prose is a treat: "She waved at the house and the sky and the impossible full moon and the skeins and shawls and clusters of bright stars."

Classic, fun space opera. An Air Force pilot slips through a wormhole and saves an alien race, only to return home to find no one believes him. Then, forty years later, the world he saved needs him again. Goran Parlov's art communicates the emotion and wonder of the characters' experiences.

Reading the Darwyn Cooke chapter in DC's "Solo: The Deluxe Edition." Cooke's family just announced Darwyn has been battling cancer and is receiving palliative care. The man is a genius of a storyteller, a wonderful artist and cartoonist, and readers will miss him.
