Pickpick

RATING: 4/5

According to Oxford, characteristics of Southern Gothic include the presence of irrational, horrific, and transgressive thoughts, desires, and impulses; grotesque characters; dark humor, and an overall angst-ridden sense of alienation.

This could not have been more fitting for Summer Sons.

I stepped into Summer Sons expecting a coming-of-age story that would make my skin crawl.

I wasn‘t wrong.

Mehso-so

RATING: 3/5

Chasing a walking corpse into a well, dealing with gigantic bugs, a curse that may or may not be true, and a love story that makes up for most of the confusion that's hidden between the pages.

There are enough moments that stand out and enough images to make your skin crawl to make this mostly worth the read.

RATING: 5 / 5

From the moment the book started, I was hooked. We open in a library where someone is hidden among the books. A horrible crime scene, a heart-wrenching tragedy, and magic in the most mundane setting...

I couldn't put this one down and it's high on my would read again list!

🖋️ QUOTE TO LIVE BY: I broke into prom. Now it‘s time to break free.

While other sophomores are interested in dating, Robin‘s convinced that she‘s just interested in her studies… And befriending Tammy Thompson.

I really enjoyed this book. It hooked me from the first sentence and kept me reading until there was nothing left. Perfect for any Stranger Things fan or anyone searching for themselves.
