Labyrinth Lost | Zoraida Cordova

Pickpick

HOLY COW. This book is STUNNING. Read it all in one sitting on a flight. Cordova's world-building is deep and breathtaking and apparently there are two more books on the way, so I hope we get to explore her magic system, folklore, and otherworlds even more. First time I think I've really connected with a love triangle featuring a bisexual heroine as well! Truly amazing.

The Star-Touched Queen | Roshani Chokshi

What we have here is a stunning novel about reincarnation and memories, fate and choice. There is a host of creatures and beings from Indian folklore. There is a timeless love story. There are bonds of sisterhood and bonds of friendship. Whispering doors, crystal trees, flesh-eating horses.

I love LUSH writing. TSTQ swells with tactile, feely writing. It's sensuous, it's creepy, it's inviting, it's edible. I LOVE IT.

A totally different kind of book than Savage's "After the Woods". Less thriller and more....Virgin Suicides for the YA crowd. Definitely not a bad thing. A gorgeous and haunting second novel, and a few scenes really made my chest ache thanks to the overwhelmingly familiar Italian-American atmosphere.

Wintersong | S Jae-Jones

A slice of perfection. Wintersong exceeded my lofty expectations for it and then went an extra mile. I'm sure there will be even more nuance here for true "music people" but this is a truly steamy, haunting, and magical debut with a fresh take on the Erlking legend.

Bonus: Jae-Jones did all the hand-lettering AND the title page illustration. Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous.
