Throughout the book we learn about her chaotic family dynamics as we hear about her adventures to a variety of different places with different environments. The POV of this book is first person as it‘s from Jeannette‘s perspective. She gives vivid imagery while describing her own experiences throughout her life. (part 2) 1y

The novel titled “The Glass Castle” is a memoir written by Jeanette Walls where she tells readers the struggles of her childhood all the way up to her adulthood. During her childhood, she tells readers about her dysfunctional family and neglectful parents with a mother who could care less about her children, and a father with all these extravagant stories. (part 1)

mady.kocsis However, Jeanette never had a stable place to call home as her family was always on the run from someone, travelling as fast as they could to the next place, just to leave again. Soon her father becomes an alcoholic which forces Jeanette, along with her siblings, to fend for themselves and support themselves. (part 2) 2y
mady.kocsis If you like books that are a coming-of-age memoir that tells the experience of a young girl dealing with a dysfunctional family then this book is for you. (part 3) 2y
mady.kocsis A theme that is quite constant in this book is poverty. It seems like the Walls family can never escape it and it‘s always an issue they‘ve had to deal with. Throughout the entire story they have had to deal with it, leaving the kids to fend for themselves and having to cook for themselves. (part 4) 2y
mady.kocsis An example of this would be when Jeanette was very young, and her mother refused to cook her anything so she had no choice but to to boil hotdogs by herself, which then caused her to burn herself. (part 5) 2y
MissYaremcio Nicely done Mady! Your puppy is so adorable and makes me smile! 6/6 2y

The Silent Patient | Alex Michaelides

Pickpick

The summary for my book is almost the same as last time because I honestly don‘t enjoy reading so I haven‘t gotten very far. Anyways…
A Silent Patient tells the story of a well known painter named Alicia Berenson who supposedly murdered her husband six years ago and has gone mute since. Then, a psychotherapist named Theo Faber takes an interest in Alicia‘s case making it his number one priority to get her to speak out about what happened. (pt 1)

mady.kocsis And to figure out whether Alicia killer her husband or not. After a long time Theo successfully manages to get her to speak a couple words to him, and she passes her diary to him which she has been keeping before her husband‘s murder and details many of the days leading up to it. Reading what happens next will have you on the edge of your seat the entire time. (pt 2) 2y
mady.kocsis This book is definitely for people who enjoy reading thrillers with twisty plots with straightforward writing, which made me enjoy it a lot. (pt 3) 2y
mady.kocsis The POV of this novel is in first person and is established through writings done by Alicia and Theo, putting things into perspective like you‘re the one living through the traumatic events. (pt 4) 2y
MissYaremcio Nicely done Mady! That's okay - not everyone enjoys reading! Have you ever tried audiobooks? 6/6 2y

The story is about a very artistic couple, the husband, Gabriel, who‘s a famous photographer and his wife, Alicia, a painter. We learn about their relationship and how in love they are until we hear that gabriel was brutally killed right in front of Alicia. However, we don‘t know if Alicia actually killed him people are just making assumptions because she was found in the house with each other‘s blood everywhere.

mady.kocsis She is sent to court for the murder of her husband but while litigation is continuing, she paints her most famous painting called the “alcestis”. People start hearing about her trial and her new painting which cause even more people to speak their mind about what really happened and that she‘s just a murderer who was after her husbands money who deserves to be punished. 2y
mady.kocsis During the litigations, the judge brings up her past mental health issues and then is soon admitted to the Grove, a psychiatric hospital run by Professor Diomedes. All this attention over Alicia catches the eye of one person in particular, named Theo. 2y
mady.kocsis He is fascinated with the story of Alicia and wants to get to the bottom of what actually happened and to hear her side of the story. So he takes a leap in his career and applies for a job at the grove, hoping to treat Alicia. 2y

mady.kocsis If you like books that are suspenseful thrillers that always keep you guessing, then you‘ll enjoy this book a lot.
The theme in this book so far is staying hidden from the truth. Alicia is persistent on staying silent and keeping what really happened that night to herself, and a secret that only she knows for now.
