Trying to get to classics I never read. So, where to begin with Jane Austin?

Lcsmcat Pride and Prejudice is where most people start, but they‘re all good. 1w
gimmeabook @Lcsmcat I‘m almost embarrassed to admit I haven‘t read her books yet! 1w

Anyone interested in these authors and maybe wanna do a book swap? My Grammy tends to give me a box of whatever author she‘s into at the time after she‘s done with them.

Anyone else avoiding figuring out what the next step of their life is by hiding inside books?

Just me? Lol. Better yet, inspirational books...aaaaand go!

I‘ve been in therapy this year, and was diagnosed with c-PTSD due to one hell of a messed up life. I‘ve been a stay at home home since I was 25. I‘m 33 now, and kinda just seeking stories that don‘t make me feel so alone, maybe even guide me a bit.

TheBookKeepers First off hugs to you ❤️. Have you read Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine? I found that one very funny and heartwarming. A nonfiction I‘d highly recommend is Option B by Sheryl Sandburg 🌺 3w
bromeliad Yeah, I hear you. Though I tend to gravitate towards books by authors with PTSD, because it's such a solace knowing that they get it, too, and to have words for how I feel, when I didn't have those words before. 3w
Ashley_Nicoletto Sending you so much love! ❤️ I second Option B by Cheryl Sandburg. I also always recommend Year of Yes by Shonda Rhimes. It‘s a gorgeous story about changing your life while taking care of you. I‘m going to tag a few others that I‘ve read this year that we‘re also great. 3w

gimmeabook @TheBookKeepers I have, last year I read that she made my heart swoon. Such a wonderful book! I recommend it greatly! 3w
Ashley_Nicoletto This is a fantastic memoir by a therapist that‘s in therapy. It really has a great message about how we‘re all going through our own hard things. 3w
gimmeabook @bromeliad do you happen to know any off hand? I‘ve never actually considered that. I have found through this many ask first if I was in the military. So I shy away from being this open with others. 3w
Ashley_Nicoletto This is a fiction novel about a woman who is leaving her husband (actually taking her bags to the car) when she finds out he‘s died. They had an unhappy marriage and she‘s not grieving even though the rest of the world feels she should be. 3w
Ashley_Nicoletto MLP spoke to my soul earlier this year in this short story memoir collection. Plus if your a mom I think it would be an entirely greater experience. 3w
bromeliad @gimmeabook that's understandable. i resonated really hard this year with both "God of small things" by arundhati Roy and "on Earth we're briefly gorgeous" by ocean vuong. Both deal with the family-induced and childhood-induced trauma. 3w
Ashley_Nicoletto If you‘re just looking for an escape (which is exactly what I was doing when I encountered this book) it‘s perfect for that. It‘s middle grade and silly and fantastic and one of the best getting lost in books I‘ve read this year. 😊 3w
gimmeabook @bromeliad thank you! I actually added “On Earth We Are Briefly Gorgeous” to my list yesterday! This reminded me! 3w
Ashley_Nicoletto I‘m not sure these will help, but I figure any recommendation is better than none. ❤️ 3w
gimmeabook @Ashley_Nicoletto it seems like all I need to do is contact you when I‘m searching for a specific book! Hahaha. You‘re awesome. 3w
Mishu94 Lots of love to you! 💙 3w
Powered_By_Plants @gimmeabook sending lots of love and light to you, I‘m not sure if this was the kind of book you are after but the magic and the secret by Rhonda Byrne I found so helpful . I have also heard that tony robbins and deepak chopra are very inspirational 🥰 and lots of mindfulness books. I really hope you find some healing lovely 💕 3w
EKonrad We might be soulmates 😉 I‘m 33 as well, and have been struggling with cPTSD for four years now. Sending positive vibes your way! 3w
gimmeabook @EKonrad thank you for your honesty. I always appreciate bumping into others who understand me on a certain level. Feel free to message me any time you need a friend! 3w

Seeking a good adventure! 😉 Recommendations?!

Mishu94 Honestly I need recommendations aswell! 😂I‘m glad you posted this! I have been reading The Cruel Prince and I am enjoying it so far, don‘t know how the end turns out to beee 3w
MaGoose Maybe try Budda Da by Anne Donovan, Birds without Wings by Louis de Bernieres or The Bastard of Istanbul by Elif Shafak. I haven't read them yet but I received them in #litsyswaps this year and they sound interesting. 3w
