The Tattooist of Auschwitz is the true story of a Polish Jew deported to Auschwitz in 1942. Thanks to his skill with languages, he is made the Tätowierer (tattooist), and falls in love with a fellow inmate, vowing to survive his time in Auschwitz and live to marry her. My only complaint about this book would be that at times the story-telling felt somewhat rushed, but it is a beautiful story of love and survival that I can honestly recommend.

The Hate U Give | Angie Thomas
Pickpick

The Hate U Give is an incredibly moving and well-written story about a girl who finds her voice in the face of hatred and prejudice. The book provides a whole new perspective for those who have never had to live through events like these, and I truly feel that it's a story that should be read by as many people as possible.

DrexEdit This one's been on my list for a while. I need to move it close to the top! Welcome to Litsy! ☺️ 2y

1984 | George Orwell
Mehso-so

A dystopian novel about life in a totalitarian government which has stripped its inhabitants of every personal freedom, even freedom of thought. While it's not always the most fun to read because of concepts that are often depressing or disturbing, I would recommend it because it leads the reader to contemplate concepts that they maybe wouldn't have thought about otherwise.
