The Dutch House | Ann Patchett

The blurbs were not selling me but my book club picked this. I‘m absolutely loving it and should have realized any new Ann Patchett novel is worth my time. Also I have type 1 diabetes and so does one of the main characters. That‘s usually enough to turn me off a story but it‘s treated (so far) very well. 🎉🎉🎉

Any Scandinavian crime novel recommendations? This isn‘t doing it for me - I usually love this genre but the language in this one (esp. regarding race) was jarring and not kind in my 2020 eyes.

So far I‘m loving this - such a fun voice and the setting/time is perfect for me. Hope it keeps up!

My stats for 2019. I set a lower reading goal than normal and still didn't make it. 😹😹😹 Overall though, I'm happy with the variety I read and looking forward to the New Year. I plan on tracking my books in my printed planner. How low-tech! I'll still probably update Goodreads, though, as it makes for nice graphics (and easy counting). Have a wonderful New Year!

Amiable Wasn‘t “Warmth of Other Suns” marvelous? I read it a year or two ago and loved it . 4y
e.queue @Amiable I loved it! One of my favorites - I‘m recommending to everyone. 😻 4y

Love these Penguin Christmas editions. I have a collection of Trollope stories in this series that are funny and heartwarming. This collection is very moralistic but lovely, readable Christmas classics. Have a wonderful holiday, everyone! #merrychristmas

Nute Very pretty! 4y

Over 2000 holds on this title when I requested it from the library in July. Didn‘t think it‘d see it this year but hear we are. Impressed with my public library system (as usual) 🙏 here‘s hoping I like this as much as everyone else! #libraryreads

Mandigolightly Our library is much the same! We‘re finally down to 200 holds in our system 4y
e.queue @Mandigolightly I‘m so impressed! That will fly by too, I‘m sure (edited) 4y

I‘ll be honest: most of my photos will likely involve my book, a cat, and my bed. 👍 Also it‘s the time of year when all my library holds appear and I‘m stressed out by where to begin. I chose this one because it takes place in Barbados and I‘m perpetually cold now so could use the escape. Let‘s do this. #historicalfiction #libraryreads

Back to nonfiction bedtime reading! This guy is happy for it. This is the first of many 19th Amendment books in my queue. I should probably mix it up a bit but I like voting so here we go. 🚀 🚀 🚀
