Pickpick

This story is about two best friends, Alex and Poppy. They met in college and it‘s their tradition to take an annual summer trip together. Two years ago, their friendship crumbled and they stopped talking. Poppy knows that she has to make it right with Alex, so she reaches out to him and convinces him to go on one last trip together. In Palm Springs they encounter a few mishaps, but Poppy is determined to fix things between them no matter what.

bryn.gross Will Poppy be able to fix what is broken, or will she create something new entirely? I would recommend this book to anyone who likes novels with romance and humour. This book is written in first person point of view. The author establishes this point of view by telling the story from the viewpoint of Poppy and her experiences. We get to know the thoughts of Poppy, but no other characters. She uses the pronouns such as I, we, us and our. 2y

Pickpick

This story takes place over the course of one day in Malibu, California. It is about the four Riva siblings, (Nina, Jay, Hud and Kit). They are the children of a famous singer, Mick Riva. Every year, Nina Riva has a huge, legendary party to end the summer. At the party, everyone is having a great time. However, as the night progresses some of the love and secrets about the Riva family come pouring out. By midnight the party has gone array.

bryn.gross Ninas mansion is up in flames by morning. The Riva‘s are all faced with a decision. What to take and what to leave behind. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes novels with romance, anticipation and plot twists. The themes are family/parenthood and fame. These are present because the entire story is about family relationships and how they can be dysfunctional. The Riva‘s have to learn how to live with fame and accept it. 2y
