The English Patient | Michael Ondaatje

Mehso-so

The English Patient is my all time favorite movie and it was hard getting into this book. The movie is about the love story between the count and Katherine Clifton. The book tells the story of each character and how they all came together in a villa that was destroyed during the war. Maybe I need to re- read it and try not to compare it to the movie

KateFulfordAuthor I think the challenge is the movie is such a visual feast, reading the book afterwards is not as rich as an experience as it might have been the other way around. 6y

I really like this one. I think I'll have to read his other books. I have a thing for spy thrillers.

EmG So worth your effort. They are great. 6y

Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo | Taylor Jenkins Reid

Mehso-so

This was an okay book. Evelyn Hugo is a rags to riches movie star who falls in love with a woman. Five of her marriages are to cover up the romance. She request a specific writer, Monique Grant, to write her biography. It isn't until the very end that you find out what connection she has to Evelyn.

I don't think I need to review this book. It's one of my favorite books. I will say, I wanted to strangle St.John for trying to guilt her into marrying him. But, love prevails and Edward wins.

A widowed midwife becomes friends with Abigail Adams. She soon finds herself trying to find a murderer and the ones plotting to assassinate John Adams. I enjoyed this book. It was definitely a change from the law novels I've been reading lately.

John Grisham never disappoints, although he got very close on this one. 3 law students decide that a semester before graduation, they will drop out after a friend commits suicide. They find a way to scam the legal system and pay off their student loans. It begins a bit slow, but gets better.

I have read the other 4 books by Dan Brown and enjoyed them. But this one I couldn't finish. He goes into explaining the big bang theory for what seems like forever and totally loses me.
