Hyperion | Dan Simmons

Wow. It took me a while to start reading this and I am so happy I am right now. Beautiful, shocking, real, fantastical, heartbreaking, scary, thoughtful, intense are some of the words that come to mind while reading this book. Many lists of greatest sci fi simply say "stop reading this article and read Hyperion". And they are right. Read this now. Dan Simmons is a master.

Darthdad I picked this up at Ericka's dad's recommendation. Haven't read yet, but looking forward to it. 8y

Having given up on my previous book club book I'm in need of some fun. Have heard nothing but great things about this book.

This is hands down one of my top 5 favorite books. I love the imagination that is inside the pages. The world is epic, the characters are super interesting and the story is so unique and amazing. This has been called the "greatest sci fi novel ever", and I agree. Writing this review makes me want to re-read it right now. It's a long book but if you buy into the world you will not want to leave.

I loved this book! I really enjoyed how it was a great fun thought provoking sci fi tale but also had some themes from the Vietnam War. The characters were great and moments in this book had me laughing and crying. Give this one a read as well.

MrBook Will do 😊👍🏻👌🏻! 8y

60 pages in and I am not feeling this book at all. This is a book club pick and I'm trying to decide when is it time to move on to something else.

Darthdad Haven't started yet and you're not inspiring me to start 8y
ZackE89 It's a children's fantasy book. It's very paint by numbers and cliche. This is a book for someone who has never read a fantasy before. There are people out there that love this but now at 100 pages in it's a grind for me. You will have to let me know what you think 8y
I-read-and-eat I read four of them and buying number five but that is mainly because I got the first three as a gift and now I want to finish them. They do get better as the story progesses but I never grew to love them. 8y

Wow. THIS was the book I was looking for and didn't even know it. This is one of the most perfectly balanced books I have ever read. It gives you action, philosophy, romance, humor, war, and tons of imagination. If you are looking for a great science fiction read I'd recommend this. You don't need to have knowledge of all science principles to understand, enjoy and love this book. Read this.

Gezemice This was quite a fun book. The conversations were witty and it was thought provoking. 8y
