So heartwarming, so heartbreaking. This is a great story.
I don't want to give a spoiler, so I will word my main thought as, I am so heartbroken and mad about Cat and Darrell. They had a special and unique bond.
I couldn't stop reading this book. Historical fiction, romance and time travel.

I guess Dark Legacy isn't in this picture.
I couldn't get into Dark Legacy. It was the anger. Maddie just shoved, push, swore and acted crazy without a shred of slowing down to reason things out. All the "Die". It wasn't my cup if tea.

This is the 2nd book. As soon as I get over being sick I'm heading to the library for the third book. I wish I had it now while I'm sick.

TheSpineView I'm home sick too! It sucks! Hope you feel better soon! 4y

I'm so sick with a cold right now that I can't even remember the story. Sorry. My head is aching so bad. I know I liked it though.

I found the beginning slow, but there was a lot of twists and surprises as the story got moving.

I really enjoyed the world of mages in this book. Danny is young and he is not showing any signs of magic. He finally figures out he is a Gatemage. Due to past problems, Gatemages are killed, even children. Now Danny is on the run while trying to figure out how to use his powers.
There is no sex in this book, but Mr Card definitely added some ridiculous, unnecessary and immature situations.

A dark, gothic, Victorian-era story. The trauma faced by the poor and the restrictions placed upon an heiress.
Despite the horrors, Ruth and the other girls endured while working as seamstresses, I really enjoyed this book.

I'm halfway through this book. I'm struggling some with it. It could be my fault as I've been reading for hours now..lol. I want to find out what is going to happen to Ruth who has been accused of witchcraft. Of course, she is just well educated as a midwife, herbs and doctoring. It's deep into political history, which I am finding hard to stay with. The talk of sex sounds childish. Men are looking at women and get an erection.

Shaylaina It is difficult to rate a lot of books. I loved the story of Ruth. I found the political talk long and boring. It's historic though, which is cool but still long and dry to read and I like History. I just wanted to get on with the story to find out what was going to happen to Ruth. 4y

This is a fairy tale, dark Gothic, urban fantasy..lol.. Ghosts, death, love, a powerful family and friends. Serafina is haunted by dreams of her sister, Lily-Rose who committed suicide, or did she? Jack's picture turns up in photographs from the early 1900's, so how can he still be alive? Love, power, mythology, friendship, suspense and survival.

Merewyn's life and her personality had me involved with her story. She had a life with Kings, Queens, Vikings, nuns and monks. She is born in Cornwall, ends up in Iceland, Greenland and as one of the ladies who care for the Queen of England.

TrishB I have this ready on the tbr I think it‘s the only one of hers I haven‘t read. 4y
Shaylaina I'm also on Goodreads and a lot of people liked this book. Of course, not everyone is the same so some people didn't. I enjoyed it.😊 4y

I found this book heartbreaking and heartwarming. I loved it. It is based upon a true life story.
Catalogued under "Christian" at the library, but I didn't find it preachy or religious. Characters often give a little prayer to God or put their faith in God during hard times, in a lot of books.

There are 3 books. The other one is, Queen of Sorrow.
The Queen must keep control of all the Spirits, otherwise they would kill all the humans. The Spirits are needed as they make everything grow.

I was wrapped up in this book and spent a few nights staying up late.
It has the feeling of a young adult book.
Some of the deaths are gruesome.

Anyone with Skill (magic) is called an Equal and they rule. Anyone else must work as a slave for 10 years. This is a story of a family with 2 daughters and a son who get mixed up with the ruling Equal family and their 3 sons.

Shaylaina I enjoyed a lot of the characters in this book. Gavin is grumpy. He doesn't want to inherit the position of power when his father dies. He absolutely loves his daughter who is baseborn and not accepted by his family. Jenner is kind and does not have any Skill. (Magic). Everyone feels that Silyen is odd. He has a lot of Skill. Bouda wants all the power. 4y
Shaylaina The slave towns are horrible. If a person decides to do their 10 years early in life, they spend the rest of their lives broken and traumatized. If a person decides to be a slave when they are older, they know they will most likely die in the slave town. The ruling family of Equals has too much power/magic to be harmed. 4y

I was struggling with the beginning. I read a lot of good comments in my book group about it, so I just kept going.
It is 1 woman with 3 different names, which is 3 different times in her life. The story skips back and forth with each chapter the same lady, with a different name and at whichever stage of her life she was using a certain name...lol... It's a bit crazy.
I don't feel the need to rush out for book 2.

shanaqui Hi! I haven't read this yet, but I'm told the "one woman with three names" is quite a big spoiler, as it's something the reader needs to figure out for themselves. Personally, I don't care that much about spoilers, but this is a big one, so it might be a good idea to use the spoiler flag? That way people who haven't read it yet can decide if they want to know. :) 4y
Shaylaina Thank you. I didn't realize that. I changed my setting. Personally, I was so confused I wish I had known...lol.. 4y
