Almost everyone I knew read The Stone Diaries - her Pulitzer winner - so I really don't understand why her other books get so little attention. I loved this His Story/Her Story device and felt like I was eavesdropping on the lives of two very real people in a small period of disruption. If Franzen had written it, they would worship at his feet.

I don't know anyone who hasn't loved this book - nor do I want to. I just love his quiet way of creating real characters that the reader can genuinely care about. Such a loss that he is no longer with us.

A case of Less is more - this was a delightful tale of hapless Arthur Less who is so much more than he thinks he is. Humility in a protagonist is a rarity. One of top three reads of 2018.
