When your books are packed away in boxes does that mean you can get more books?

The more I think about this book, the more I done want to get back to it. I‘m by no means a prude, but some of the scenes in it are more... erotic? than I‘d like in a simple read. I‘ll probably get back to it when I‘m not embarrassed reading this with my parents in the same room

My next book I‘m reading, featuring my grandmas necklace I‘ve been using as a bookmark. I haven‘t read it since highschool, so this will be a nice trip down memory lane.

Powered_By_Plants Beautiful bookmark 4y

Not sure if I‘ve ever finished Good Omens but seeing it in my boxes after watching the show has inspired me!

Powered_By_Plants This one is on my pile 📚 , Iv heard really good things. Will you watch the tv series ? 4y
Opide @Powered_By_Plants I‘ve seen it! It‘s pretty faithful to the book actually. I heard Neil Gaimon did the screenplay so it went pretty well. Maybe it‘s time I watched the series again 4y
Powered_By_Plants @opide Iv saved the series until I read the book, although I have it on audible too 😁 looking forward to it. I have always wanted to read a Terry P . Have you read any of his others? 4y
Opide @Powered_By_Plants Terry Pratchett is great. There‘s something heartwarming about his work 4y

Back to Tolkien for the night. I‘m a little sad that the Two Towers is buried under boxes of books and I won‘t be able to finish the series for a while. I wish we had an apartment so I could put out my book‘s and go back to them when I need them. Maybe Dune again next? Or a new book entirely?

Pickpick

I‘m in the same spot I was in from my last post. (This time with added cat!) I devoured this book. When you wrote a book from the narrative of an established villain, there‘s always this worry that the writing will make you sympathize with the character, diminishing the events of the villain‘s previous actions. This wasn‘t the case and I found myself fascinated by the assets of the future President Snow‘s mind.

Opide I will say that there were a few scenes that were a bit confusing, but a second read will probably help with that. 4y
Branwen I'm about 100 pages away from finishing! I love it so far! 😀 4y

Opide @Powered_By_Plants I just flew through the book, I didn‘t even notice how much time passed. Whoops! 4y
Powered_By_Plants @Opide 😂 Amazing!! I‘m only on chapter 4 , So glad you liked it! I‘m still not sure about my feelings at the moment ... no katniss , I hope we are going to get some explanation about how they got to this point if the capitol being back in power 💕 4y
Opide @Powered_By_Plants it actually takes place before that but after the first rebellion where they decided to do the hunger games in the first place. That took me a bit to figure out 4y
Powered_By_Plants @Opide ahhh! A prequel . I wondered why we had no explanation . I was trying to work out how snow was related to president snow as we knew him! Thank you! 4y

Reading through this classic again, and I find myself thinking about Tom Bombadil. A lot of people think he was useless to the series, just a random person who doesn‘t add to the story. I can‘t stop thinking about what Tolkien was thinking adding him. Tom and Goldberry have compared to Tolkien himself and his wife. Why was Tom able to resist the ring, and make all the hobbits fears seem far away?

Opide @wanderinglynn thank you! I‘m super excited to be here :) 4y
Bookwomble Tom's names in the other languages of Middle-earth - Forn, Orald, and Iarwain Ben-adar, all mean Eldest, and Tom boasts that he was in Middle-earth before the stars shone, and before Melkor entered the world. Tolkien said he wanted a figure of mystery even to the old cultures he'd invented. He seems to be based on the Finnish hero-god Väinämöinen, and perhaps, in part, the Giant Herdsman of Welsh legend. He's one of my favourite characters 🤓 4y
Opide @Bookwomble I‘ll have to check out those legends. There‘s something about Tom that I love so much 4y
