Trying to read more than just white dude authors.

Alternating between this and American Gods at the moment. I've always had a thing for the paranormal and the Mothman will forever by my favorite cryptid. John Keel paints a captivating picture of weird America. The concept of "tulpas" is especially fascinating. Tying it back into American Gods, it is similar to the thoughtform that allows the gods to exist.

Count Zero | William Gibson

Hello Litsy Friends, it's been a while. This film major is taking a break from movies to catch up on his reading. Starting with the cybernetic canon of William Gibson. I look forward to sharing my thoughts with you all.

Trainspotting | Irvine Welsh
Pickpick

At first, Trainspotting may seem like a tough nut to crack. The dialect is stylized, the subject matter is sordid, and the setting may seem too specific for an outsider to relate. But once the reader gets into the swing of the dialogue, the story will flow effortlessly. The themes of Welsh's debut novel are surprisingly universal, and you come to know the characters like old friends. Fans of the film may appreciate the book on a deeper level.

Here are some of the books I'm attempting to read over winter break. 'God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater' is a present from a good friend who knows I'm obsessed with Kurt.

The Godfather | Mario Puzo

One thing you'll never find out from watching the Godfather film; Sonny is notoriously well hung.

Different Seasons | Stephen King
Pickpick

This collection is a treat for any film buff fans of Stephen King's work. Inside you'll find the basis for three of the most iconic book-to-film adaptations ever; The Shawshank Redemption, Stand by Me, and Apt Pupil. A collection of four novellas, Different Seasons was Steve's first published work of "serious drama", Which basically means drama sans ghosts, vampires, possessed St. Bernards, etc. However Apt Pupil is, for me personally, very scary.

Snow Crash | Neal Stephenson
Pickpick

The year is 1992. The most advanced game is Wolfenstein 3D, and here is Neal Stephenson, predicting the mechanics and logistics of online games with scary clarity. The Metaverse will feel familiar to anyone who's ever played a multiplayer game in the past ten years. Snow Crash is the underappreciated middle sibling of Neuromancer and Ready Player One. recommended if you like either of these books, or fiction that influenced technology.

Less Than Zero | Bret Easton Ellis
Pickpick

My love for this novel might stem from the place I'm at in my life, being a recent high school graduate. Although I come from a very different background (east coast, and not affluent), there are times you find yourself drifting through life like Clay, wondering where your innocence went and where you go from here. I haven't seen the horrors that Clay has, but I'm sure if I did I wouldn't react the way he does, which is not much at all.
