Absolutely amazing. Follows the 2nd Ranger Battalion from formation, to D-Day, to Battle of the Bulge. A book dedicated to highlighting the contributions of Army Rangers that are normally forgotten in so many WW2 history books. Could not put this book down. A must read.

It was great. Bolger doesn't mince words with who he likes and doesn't in terms of American leadership but he alsodoes a great job of showing just what these men went through. Really enjoyed the book.

Absolutely loved it. The HBO series doesn't give these men enough credit for their bravery sacrifice and sheer will to survive. Read this book and you'll have a new appreciation for what our armed services did in WW2.

Book 32 of the series. Loved it.

Book 33. Anthology of short stories. Some of the short stories were great but some of these side characters I couldn't connect with.

Another compilation of short stories which i thought were awesome. I‘ve just loved this series so far.

Follows the Sherwood Rangers, a British tank division from D-Day through the end of WW2. Holland is clearly well researched as he tries to introduce us to as many of the men as he can. Unfortunately, so many died that by the time a new solider is mentioned, they are killed. It‘s an awesome attempt at telling the stories of many soldiers who‘d otherwise be forgotten. But I was left with a new appreciation for the bravery of WW2.

Terrible book. Couldn‘t connect with a single character. Couldn‘t say how this story moves the Horus Heresy along. The only thing I can say about this book is that it makes the point that sometimes people in war die to accomplish what is ultimately forgotten and for a purpose no one can remember. Great. I just saved you hours of reading. Move onto the next book.

A true sci-fi war epic. Loved it.

The first encounter with the White Scars legion and it didn‘t disappoint. An interesting exploration of doing the wrong things but for what you believe to be the right reasons. Can it still be considered loyalty if it‘s misguided? And can the resulting betrayal be redeemed?

There are always people left behind in any war. Their stories and their continued fight is usually “unremembered”.

While there a few nuggets of wisdom in there, the book is more of disorganized thoughts on leadership as opposed to a coherent message as to what leadership looks like. Also the writing style is overly informal which results in a lot of filler sentences that don‘t need to be there. The book would be reduced by a third if all the “what I mean to say”s and similar phrases were removed. He might be a great mentor/leader but he‘s not a good writer.

Absolutely loved it. So many great tidbits on how to start/maintain great life long habits and how to stop those bad habits that are keeping you from your goals and potential.

Super fun book. The misadventures of the most unlikely trio and their dog as they evade capture by opaque government agencies in a bid to regain their freedom and some resemblance of their lives.

Loved it. Finished it in one weekend. Finally got to know a little bit more about the “Scythe of the Imperium of Man”.

Absolutely loved it. An easy introduction into the wonderful world of Olive Oil and the mafiosos and farmers alike that deliver it to our tables. If you like food, you‘ll love this book.

Loved it! The main story is the building of the Chicago World‘s Fair along with the story of the serial killer H H Homes in the backdrop. Both stories fascinating. Very fun and approachable read.

Loved it. One of my faves so far. Book 19 of the series.

The story is just as much about the rise of Palpatine as Darth Sidious as it is the story of Sith Lord Darth Plagueis the Wise. The author does a great job of showing the cunning and brilliance of the Sith as they design and implement the fall of the Jedi and the Republic in a plan that takes decades. Really enjoyed it.

Probably one of my new favorite books. Both heart breaking and heart warming at the same time. If you liked the movie/book The Martian (movie was with Matt Damon), you‘ll love this book.

Enjoyed book 18 of the series. I don‘t find the characters particularly interesting but still enjoyed it.

Fascinating insight into the Evangelical Movement and how it came to support Donald Trump despite its morally conservative values. Helps me make sense of my upbringing and the current environment I see.

Book 17. One of my least favorites of the series so far. Some insight into the world but doesn‘t really move the series forward. Just another ancillary story. Not much brought to the table.

One of the great theme‘s in all of Hemingway‘s books was the Lost Generation - referring to those who fought and returned from WWI. It seems that this sense of lost-ness was not unique to the Allied Powers. This novel reveals how a war desired by the elite was fought by commoners on both sides who had nothing to gain but everything to lose and nothing to come home too after their sacrifice. If they came home at all.

Great book. Includes 3 separate books plus some connecting short stories. It was nice to be able to read the whole arc in one go.

Loved it. Jumped ahead a bit but what great insight into my favorite character in this series.

Book 16 of the Horus Heresy. I love these collections of short stories in the middle of the series. Really helps build the Warhammer Universe and does a great job of telling stories that might otherwise get missed in the larger narrative.

Book 15 of the Horus Heresy series. I am really enjoying the series. What I really love about this series is that the heroes are not necessarily good. So while you know you‘re supposed to root for the good guys, sometimes the ethics lay with the villain. Makes the story interesting.

An easy adventure story where everything ends well. Entertaining but didn‘t keep my attention very well.

As I continue to seek to understand the racial division in the church, this book has helped me to understand that a lot of what we consider to be Christianity is nothing more than catharsis for many people who do not see real change but rather affirmation of their own self esteem. Real change only happens when the pursuit of Christ overtakes our pursuit of ourselves. Sadly our current state shows that Christianity is nowhere need this.

Book 12/56 I‘m not sure how I haven‘t gotten tired of this series but each book is so great. This book is part tragedy, reminiscent of the 300 of Sparta. Heroes standing against all odds. Loved it.

Book 11/56 This series is such a fun read. While it‘s certainly action packed, a combination of a spy thriller, war novel and sci fi adventure, it does a great job of making you re-evaluate who the “good guys” are. You know who you‘re supposed to be rooting for as you read but the gap between villain and hero is thinner than a razor‘s edge.

10/56 collection of short stories that add to the Warhammer Universe. My favorite book so far.

9/56 really enjoyed this one. So far this series has been great. I imagine I will get tired of them eventually but so far, I‘ve enjoyed them.

8/56. 2 books down. Goal is 24 for this year. A good start.

Book 6/56 Good book albeit my least favorite so far. So enjoying the series.

Book 5/56. I would say I am addicted to this series but then, again, I think it‘s quite obvious at this point. Definitely a fun series that helps distract me from the day to day grind. Honestly, way better than anything that‘s on Netflix.
