LITSY AUSTEN FANS - I am going to England this July for Austen's 200 year death anniversary. What are your favourite Austen/literary places to visit in southern England? I intend to spend a couple of days in Bath, probably some time in London, and a couple of days between Winchester and Chawton, but these are all places I have seen before. I have not been to Steventon before, is it worth the visit? Any and all tips welcome!!!

I kind of hated it. 💁 I didn't like the author putting himself in the story. I didn't like the forced plot that always felt stretched and thin. The artwork was perfectly fine; the chapter art was quite beautiful. But overall this felt like unnecessary fan service and try-hard intellectualism. I'm over Tyler Durden and Fight Club's whole attitude about modern masculinity. Do not recommend.

Omg I hate this guy! She says no to a favour for this dude who looks at women as disposable sex objects, so he finds out her phone number, which he uses to harass her (including unsolicited pictures - no dick pics but sexual pics all the same), and where she works, where he continues to harass her and won't respect the firm "NO" she has stated a hundred times. I HATE THIS GUY SO MUCH. And I'm only 10% in?? Someone tell me this gets better somehow!

Finally busting this out via audiobook tonight! It's only been on my TBR list for about a hundred years. 💁

Fight Club 2: more bitching about the state of white masculinity. So far this sequel isn't offering me anything to make it new or worthwhile.

This book was REAL GOOD. Montross balances clinical study and empathetic humanity with ease. She lifts the veil that we think Drs keep between medicine and their personal lives to show us just how much one influences the other. The writing isn't particularly impressive, but there are a few lovely passages. Would recommend!

Finally! A romance novel that doesn't make me roll my eyes every five minutes! Is there a bit of cheese involved? Yes, 'cause, y'know, romance. But it is far from nauseating and the main characters are really interesting. Not 100% period accurate, but overall a DELIGHT. Also, dat feminism. ✅

Ah, this book. I reread JA's books every couple of years, and the 4 years since I last read S&S were far too long. These sisters are extremely dear to me. It is their characters that bring me back, not the romances or story. Just... 💕 I can't explain.

Womp womp. Characters seemed younger than they were, 2D love interest, writer totally distanced Jane and Cassandra so there was room for Jenny as Jane's best friend. I thought Jane was characterized well, but not age appropriate. Pass!

I love the premise of this book, I love Mochrie, so why didn't I love it? Listened to the audiobook for Mochrie's voice, but still just wasn't into it. I've read a lot of comedy books this year so maybe I'm just burnt out in them. Found myself zoning out a lot. :(

Cat and a book! Been in a bit of a slump, hoping a fun and easy read will get me going again. I'm behind schedule for my reading goals. 😒

Overall, very entertaining! But the middle dragged on a bit and at a certain point I started to feel a little overwhelmed by Lawson's outlandish experiences. (Okay, I get it, you've had a whimsical/insane life!) The tone of her writing was nice, though, and made her relatable.

Hmm. Couldn't get into the characterization for the first 1/3 of the book. Liz seemed bizarre. Problematic plot for Lydia which was a far cry from the orig P&P. Final reconciling scene between Liz and Darcy bizarre. But so much fun, and overall enjoyed reading it.

9/10, loved it! Not quite perfect or a favourite; while the world building was thorough and interesting, it made the first half of the book feel a bit long. Once things started happening though, it came together well. Had high expectations that were, for the most part, fulfilled.

Starting this tonight! Haven't read a Banks novel in a couple years, a major oversight given my love for the Wasp Factory. 💕
